At the end of my last installment we were asphalt camping in the Flying "J" parking lot at Cattletsburg, KY.

THE HAY FIELD.

Yep! That's the hayfield on my West Virginia farm. Where Happy the Goldendoodle and I spent the last couple months.

However it has been nowhere as dry as the above picture. It rained 3 or 4 days every week during Sept. and Oct.

Livingston, Texas

Happy and I are now at Georgetown, Texas. Just North of Austin. We left Galveston on the 26th of May and moved up to Livingston, Texas. That is where the Escapees RV Club Headquarters is located. My last blog dealt with my trip to Utah to find old friends and lost dreams of Urainium Mines.

The trip was very enjoyable and fullfilling. But, a major highlight of the trip came at the end.

Wow! It's been a while. I left Tampa, Florida on the 16 th of March. Even though my right front brake had overheated on the way into MacDill AFB, the dealer found nothing wrong during the tear down and inspection. So he cleaned it up, lubrcated the calipers and put it back together.

That evening while checking tire pressure prior to starting the trip, I discovered that one of my rear tires had deflated down to 40 psi. It should have been 100 psi. So Tue morning it was off to a tire…

My wife was originally from San Angelo, Texas. In 1984 we were living in Harpers Ferry, WV. 1984 was one of the coldest winters I have experienced in my long life. We drove from Harpers Ferry to San Angelo for Christmas that year.Our two sons were age 10 and 15. We owned and was driving a 1982 four wheel drive Subaru station wagon. Last post was last Wed. the 30th of Dec, 2009. We are now in the second decade of 21st century. "Times fun when you're having flies" I stole that from Prunella, who stole it from Kermit.



Anyway, Here I am back at Patrick Air Force Base, or AFB. I came South to get away from the cold. Ha! It isn't as cold as VA, but it isn't as warm as Florida either. Happy's hair is growing quickly.

Happy and I made it. we are in Leesburg, VA. It seems kind of strange, but we started to see snow on the ground right at the NC/VA border. By the time we got to Richmond (65 miles) the snow was pretty deep. About a foot.



I'm not sure what causes it, but as soon as you get to the North side of Richmond, people go crazy. There were drivers doing 80 weaving in and out between the 18 wheelers. There was a wreck, or someone in a snowbank at just about every Exit/Entrance. Consequently,… Continue

Tonight Happy and I are in a motel near Rocky Mount, NC. We spent last night at Savannah, GA. We are headed to Leesburg, VA. I stored the RV near Melbourne, Fl. I'm driving the Jeep Liberty to VA. So far we have managed to stay South and East of the Storm, but tomorrow we will have to invade the snow area. We are close enough to the storm area that late this evening we started seeing trucks and cars going the opposite direction that still had lots of snow on them. We (Happy and I)are at the Escapees "Rainbow Plantation" at Summerdale Alabama. Listening to the aftermath of Alabama vs. Florida game. Alabama just beat Florida for the SEC championship and will now play in the National Championship game.

We are under a "Hard Freeze" warning tonight. Hope my propane holds out. I have light bulbs in the water compartment. That should keep my water pipeing from freezing tonight. I can hear the Canadians laughing all the way down here.

Well I'm not actually on the road again, yet. I was going to be tomorrow but, when I had the jeep modified to tow behind the RV, the shop got in a hurry putting it back together and didn't. I did not know this until Fri. They finished it about an hour after the shop's normal closing time Wed. I picked it up and noticed on the way back to the RV park that the left turn signal wasn't acting right.
