Who's On First?

In a book "The Moral Society: A Rational Alternative to Death," John David Garcia presents a revolutionary ethical theory much in the spirit of Spinoza. The author shows that through the ethical development of art, science and technology man can achieve far more than the advocates of supernatural Utopias ever imagined.

What is the "Game of Life?" According to the author it is a game in which we are the pieces as well as the players. It is a game in which the stakes are… Continue

Musings From a Recent Addition

So, I'm taking a day of R and R today, and I thought I'd try out this 'blog' stuff that all the hip kids go on about. I'm still relatively new to this TBD thing (7 weeks, I think...), and while the demise of the old site hit me a lot harder than I thought it would, I came to the new site with fervor. Being relatively new, I missed out on the birthing pains that a lot of the veterans went through, but frankly, I wouldn't have cared one iota if the new site would have been nothing more than… Continue

A Spoon Full of Kindness

We have experienced many changes in the times Each day bring new challenges and awareness that we need to bring forth kindness and wisdom into our thinking capacities. We as a nation have seen War's , Natural Disaster's and Disease's Poverty, plagues our people and there does not seem to be any end in sight. It's time to act and stand strong and allow the future generation's to see that we are not this selfless group of people that left behind a mess that is so destructive and ugly . Make… Continue

Coming over to this group from TBD

Hi - I was on the first Tee Bee Dee site. Recently, I got the Message of Doom - entitled
Message from RobinWolaner: A Message I Didn't Want to Send. I thought TBD was doing great! I am sorry that the group has to end there, but glad it is starting here. I will try to re-join the groups I was already in and do my profile too. I plan to be proactive about adding friends this time.

It's a lot more fun with friends!

Add a link?

Anybody know how we can add a link here? I want to link to my WordPress blog rather than trying to keep one here and one there, too...any suggestions are most welcome!

TIA,
Mike

Are you a Shell Account?

Many TBDers have planted their flags here, like the Americans planted a flag or two on the moon. We marked the territory, so we consider the job done. Were not really there, but we went there once.

The Ning TBD seems in a frozen, in-between place. So many folks from old TBD seem to be here, they've planted their flags, but they're hollow accounts, place-holders for when or if their true love sinks beneath the waves.

I am a traitor to my TBD-land, I find it easier to move… Continue

Do you moderate?

your comments, your profiles, your groups' membership?

I don't. It seems unamerican.

To Know

Have you ever noticed how in social networking, this new world, that you think you know somebody based on very little information, usually a brief post and an avatar. If the avatar is not their picture, you develop instantly a whole conception of them, vivid and detailed, whether you would like or dislike meeting them, etc. Then they post a picture of themselves, maybe a few years old, and your shocked: OMG, that is sooo not what I expected! They are white, they are gray or black or green, they… Continue

Celebrate the day and your freedoms

Today is a day of recognizing the freedoms we have. It is not a day for one political faction but a day for the people. For we have the greatest document that has ever been founded by man. It has propelled this country to greatness and levels no other country has ever seen since the dawn of time. So go out enjoy the freedoms you have and if you are not sure what you have read the Bill of rights they will tell you. Go celebrate and enjoy them. And when you do remember the oath keepers from the… Continue

Kind of Bitter. Kind of Excited.

I am having some red wine. I am feeling cocky and sarcastic and bitter and empowered. It is not just my embibing either. I have been hanging out with my friends who as a group are known as "chulas" which means "cuties" in Spanish. Dayum, that is so freakin multicultural----especially for a bunch of white chicks, plus the token: one latina, one Asian Indian, and one half breed Native American. Anyways, I am sitting around drinking and my mind wonders to thinking about fairness right? Of course I… Continue

I'll Regret This, but..

I've never been one to resist putting my foot in my mouth, so:

This site works. There are some features that TBD has/had that I'll definitely miss, but any successful enterprise has something about it that attracts. The bugs and performance were frustrating. The addition of purchasable goodies right before they announced bankruptcy seemed ill-timed. I didn't plop down a ton of dough, but I'm not expecting it back, I know if I took a pen from some bank's lobby they would chase me out… Continue

Ding Dong the Witch is Dead!

Let’s face it, through a series of minor and small events, this day was never, ever going to get a Gold Star on my calendar of ways to start a major holiday weekend. It’s sort of like breaking your shoe lace just before you drop your morning toast butter-side down on a clean kitchen floor. Nothing major, just in toto major league annoying.

But there was something, some small part of me that always teeters one way or the other…that says ‘don’t give up, things will get better!’ (or worse on… Continue

Giving Up On TBD and Going Along With Ning? ...WHY?

OK...so, I was away for a while and didn't log onto TeeBeeDee for a few months. OK...so, it was six months.

But when I came back with vim and vigor ready to put my two cents worth in, lo and behold!...the site was slateted for shut down! WHY?

But not so much was the question, why was it shutting down, so much as why was everyone saying, "Thanks for the laughs, it was fun while it lasted, let's now go over to Ning." What? No fight? No "Hey, wait a minute, I'm… Continue

Nikola Tesla

Shouldn't Nikola Tesla have the same accolades of any great scientist or inventor and his accomplish be taught in school? Have you ever use an ac motor(anything like a electric can opener or an motor you plug into your house electrical outlets.), you can thank Tesla for. There is a company coming out with a device so you do not have to plug in your house electrical devices into outlets to work. Tesla developed that technology but on a grander scale than for one house. There are a lot of… Continue

Here And Now......

I strive to live in the moment.

In fact, I work extra hard to live in the moment.

But I care what I fill my moments up with, like communication.I value communication,I like it to be communication that has value.

And here I thought cell phones were bad,I just didn't have that much important infomation to talk about, all day long, where ever I was at the moment. Then Blue Tooth came along on the ears of good citizens, making me… Continue

Similar to the Salmon

Well my friends, it all started last Sunday night,

whils't watching one of David Attenborough's Documentaries,

this particular one was about the life cycle of the North Atlantic Salmon

- the home of the Grizzly Bear.

Now they do say, that if you want to get your message across with

young boys, the best way to do it, is to choose a time when they

are focusing on something else, as apparently, they don't… Continue
