Mr. Bennett said: ".......Who would not love his country with all his might?"

So, Hawker, are you saying the country he's talking about is North Carolina?
I'm sorry, Hawker. I'm just "yanking your chain." I guess I just don't understand the people waving the "Confederate Flag" instead of the United States Flag. Just call me one of those Damn Yankees who happens to love the United States of America. :) That includes the South, the North, the East and the West.. :)
So sorry if I ruffled your feathers, good Sir. :)
It has long been my opinion as a historian that a stronger more creative president than Mr. Lincoln could have avoided the whole mess. There were many compromises available but he would hear none of them.
Yeah, I'm sure a slew of black slaves were just itching to fight for the Southern brand of 'honor and dignity' during the Northern war of aggression.
"It appears we have appointed our worst generals to command forces, and our most gifted and brilliant to edit newspapers. In fact, I discovered by reading newspapers that these editor/geniuses plainly saw all my strategic defects from the start, yet failed to inform me until it was too late. Accordingly, I am readily willing to yield my command to these obviously superior intellects, and I will, in turn, do my best for the Cause by writing editorials - after the fact."- Robert E. Lee, 1863
That's funny.
The south has every right to keep their rebel flag.
We all might have to resort back to their currency the way things are going.
