Kat, or maybe it was akabukowski, once said to me that everyone thinks their life would make a good book.
She is probably right. What do you think?
Here is your chance.
Let's all tell stories from our experiences as we traveled through time.
Ahh, but there has to be rules. They will be pretty loose, but rules there must be.
RULES:
1. It can be any experience that you want to tell us about.
2. It can be as short as one line. Or as long as fifty. Anything over thirty will be deleted.
3.You do not have to end the story at fiftyy lines, but you have to quit writing at the end of fiftyy lines. You can not post again until at least one other person has posted something.
This ensures that everyone gets a chance.
4.You can continue on the same subject or jump to a new one.
5. Nothing is required to be in chronological order.
6. Very Graphic Sexual discriptions should be posted in the sex talk group. You can direct us to go there if we want to read about it.
7. No one will be checking the facts
8. Additional rules will be posted and implemented as I see fit.
Step right up and post. who knows, the next knock on your door may be Spielberg asking for the movie rights.

I think that this is a moot point. It would seem to me that the seeds of racism are in our DNA. But, they only blossum if nourished. Familarity and association at a young age with others who have different physical characteristics can easily overcome this built in tendency, but can also be easily enhanced. The longer it is nourished, the harder it is to overcome.
Yes, racism is usually taught by association or lack of assocation but it does not have to be taught.
Quinn, you are entitled to your opinion. I just believe otherwise.
Racism is the belief that there are inherent differences in people's traits and capacities that are entirely due to their race, however defined, and that, as a consequence, justify the different treatment of those people, both socially and legally. Moreover, racism is the practice of the different treatment of certain a group or groups, which is then justified by recourse to racial stereotyping or pseudo-science.

I do believe it is possible to be racist by nature and NOT act on that natural tendency. Socially, most people treat others of different color different from how they treat their own. It is an observation I have made of people throughout my life and it is one I have observed even here on TBD and MA. It works for all races. Again, that is my opinion.
Most parents in the different cultures would prefer their children to marry within the same race. Yeah, it is a socially inculcated belief, but I think it is grounded on biology as well.
If you observe children playing in a sandbox, you will notice a natural predilection for kids to play with kids of the same color or ethnicity without their parents' guidance. I have two children and when they were little, I used to take them to the childrens' park in front of my house a lot. I like to observe the dynamics in a sandbox. My neighborhood is multinational so even at a young age kids here are exposed to different ethnic and racial groups.
I too agree with Miss Q.
i was born in 1946 in North Central Texas and was actually taught to be afraid of Black folks by parents who meant well I'm sure, and to also consider them as "different" from us.
*I could write another story here about ny dear parents but I think I'll refrain from doing that again*
Where's that vid of the Pit Bull w/the kitten that Aggie not w/a K posted in the last day or so?
I don't think children are racist, naturally, so that leads me to think that racism is taught. AND...
I also don't agree w/the excuse, "He (or she) doesn't know any better, that's how they were raised."
That's a crock. I was raised by racists & among racists, & I came out of the womb a Civil Rights Activist & have never waivered, despite being the black sheep of my family & unpopular in many circumstances b/c of it.
whew. Those feelings take a lot of energy.
