Fess Parker died today at the age of 85. Did you have a coonskin hat in the 50's? Mine I think was rabbit fur.

My older buddy used to have a flint lock rifle (like Davey's).
He would shoot it all the time with no bullet in it.
It took a while for the smoke to clear.

Rip Davey
I liked him as Daniel Boone, but prefered John Wayne as Davy Crockett.
The original Davy Crockett died in the Alamo 174 years ago this month.
Yep that was when we Tennesseans pulled your Texas butts out of the fire. Crockett and Sam Houston, you would live in Mexico if it wasn't for us.
You know who was the only man to be govenor of two different states, President of a Republic, and run out of the govenors office for wanting to stay in the union.
yes I do. One of five men from Tennessee to be president. Jackson, Polk, Johnson, William Walker (President of Nicaragua) and Houston (President of Texas)
I think of Davey Crockett, too, but I also see him as the dad in Old Yeller. RIP Fess.

I don't have my coonskin cap any more but I still have these for my hot chocolate and corn flakes.
Outstanding !
Actually the real David Crockett, he didn't like to be called Davy, was quite the character. He gave one of my favorite political speeches of all time. After losing his bid for re-election to congress in 1834, because he had pissed off Andrew Jackson, Crockett told the crowd "you can all go to hell, I am going to Texas"
As a native Texan, I can tell you that August in Houston is hell.
