I seem to learn something new nearly every day. Sometimes it's something as simple as, 'Don't talk politics with the new coworker.' Or, 'Do not put the rubbing alcohol in the spot where the mouthwash usually sits.'

Today it was an interesting, but useless, piece of trivia. You're all familiar with the phrase, "Blowing smoke up his ass"? Did you ever wonder WHY someone would say that?

It seems that in the early 1800's there was a device called a tobacco smoke enema. Yep, you can guess how it was used.... They thought it was effective for reviving drowning victims, or relieving "stoppages". It wasn't, but it did spawn an interesting phrase at least!

So, what have you got - what did you learn today?

I learned this first thing this morning. Our cat's not the unsociable bitch I thought she was. I looked out the bedroom window and saw 9 wild turkeys following our cat through the back yard toward our house.

I posted pics at moosie's crossing.
Today I did some re-learning. Naps are good!!!!
I learned that there's a mailbox in front of the supermarket at which I've shopped almost every day for the last 6 years. I'm observant, if nothing else.
So Wylde, you walked into the mailbox and that's how you found it?
Umm...well...no comment
lol
Today I learned that if you say 'hi' to a small child in a passing cart, he will smile and holler 'hi' to you every time you pass him again!

I LOVE that one!
How strong Larry's Aunt is.
I learned to stay away from when the weird friends of my boss come over.
I learned that sagebrush is not sage at all, but several varieties of artemisia, also called wormwood. Depending on the source you google, it is either good forage for cattle or toxic to them. I'm glad I'm not a cow in Wyoming trying to decide.
I learned that Absinthe is an anise and wormwood flavored spirit, distilled from anise, fennel and absinthium wormwood.

So, goodbye Wine. Hello Absinthe!
