...to all the couples in NY that can make their unions legal beginning today, July 24, 2011-

It happens all the time in heaven

It happens all the time in heaven,
And some day
It will begin to happen
Again on earth -
That men and women who are married,
And men and men who are
Lovers,
And women and women
Who give each other
Light,
Often will get down on their knees
And while so tenderly
Holding their lover's hand,
With tears in their eyes,
Will sincerely speak, saying,
"My dear,
How can I be more loving to you;
How can I be more
Kind?"

If only the whole country could be so understanding of how things are.

The New York Times article I read about it stated that NY is the 6th, and largest state, to make civil unions legal for homosexuals. This is an excerpt from the article that I particularly liked:

"Outside the city clerk’s office in Lower Manhattan, an orderly crowd had gathered in sweltering temperatures alongside metal police barriers hours before the doors opened about 8:45 a.m., prompting a cheer. At least one veil was in evidence.

Phyllis Siegel, 76, and Connie Kopelov, 84, who have been together in Manhattan for 23 years, were the first couple in, receiving a waiver from the rule requiring 24 hours between a license and a ceremony. They were ushered right into the chapel. Ms. Kopelov used a gray walker as they were married by the city clerk, Michael McSweeney.

As Mr. McSweeney declared to the couple, “I now pronounce you married,” Ms. Siegel held Ms. Kopelov’s head and kissed her on the left cheek."

It has been wonderful to see all the couples and hear the stories of love. I agree with PA...now if the rest of the states will take the same step forward.
Love is love, no matter who you are. I don't see why that is so hard for some to understand.
I've always thought I should mind my own business about the private details of another's existance ,it's about respect. And people are people too. It's a no brainer. I love the native american aproach to that part of the spectrum. It's the right aproach of course to tell someone that you support who they are in their entirety. Never had a problem with this.
I have two wonderful neighbors on either side of me that love me and I truly love them back. I have another neighbor to the west that hates my guts period and I don't know why. I got stuck in her negativity for about a month and had to get out the big guns and check out all the options for dealing with it. It was triggering my ptsd. Listened to the Dalai Lama alot after not listening to him for so long and talked with absolute angels about it and found support and now instead of me making those frustrated sounds, those hurt sounds, and trying to be brave and tough and so on , I laugh and giggle and sometimes I think she can hear that I'm truly happy in my own little world and it's killing her. Her hate campaign didn't destroy me, it made me a richer person. And I got to talk with some very wonderful people. Literally angels walking the earth. How cool is that?
I love your avatar Kooner.
SIGH, story of my life.....................wrong thread.
Finally, now men are allowed to catch the bouquet at weddings.
Poor suckers.
Its ONLY 200 years too late? Why are wevpermitted to duiscriminate against law abiding tax paying citizens. An abomination. congrats to all!
