Think of it as a going out of business sale.
The book will only going to be available for a few more weeks, and I wouldn't want anyone to be deprived of reading the greatest book yet written that has entire chapters devoted TBD. Grab it while you still can.…

It must have been in 1956, during that first class I had in College Economics 101, that the definition of economics was drilled into my head: It is the management of scarce resources. When something is plentiful, who needs economics? If you can just go out in the morning and pick all the apples you want to eat, you don't need to get…

I’ve been working on the speech all morning. In fact, I’ve made great progress. I could go with what I have so far written. But I feel, I know, that it needs a line that will really grab people’s attention. A phrase came to my mind this morning: “All we have to fear is . . .” Fear what? What is it we have to fear? Further economic erosion? A lack of confidence in the markets? All we have to fear is . . . Maybe I should telephone Sam and get some idea or other from him. He always…

I spent a career working for a high-tech developer and manufacturer. In the personnel management field, I soon learned about “skunk works” and their mission in life. Although the term was first applied to engineering and development groups, it has been broadly used for any group of employees who work in teams.…

I spent some time this afternoon filling out forms for my South Florida cardiologist so he can obtain my medical records from my Cincinnati, Ohio based physician group. I am a snow bird and spend part of my year in Florida and the other part in the Cincinnati area. I have been doing this for the 15 years since my…

Here is my Miami Sun tricycle, which I take for about a hour spin each day at my Florida retirement complex. Over the past few years, some disabilities have hampered my prior one hour walks and the comfort of a regular bicycle seat. So I did as many do at an older age and switched to a trike. There are a number…

The job market has an emerging problem, which could get worse if the economy doesn't improve. Employers are increasingly adding more and more experience requirements to their job descriptions. Entry level jobs are now up to 2-3 years of "relevant" experience. Many blogs and recruiters confirm this in their articles and personel experience. …

Up early after being up late after going to sleep too early from being tired. Time to switch to decaf. I got up to write down my thoughts about the current trends in our economy and what that means for the average person in terms of nutrition. My baby sis who is struggling to remain middle class and working hard to single parent said that her teeth have started cracking. OK so she likes to be skinny but how much is too much? Buy some vitamins , I said. They're expensive , she said. Not as…

It's a decision most people must make in their lives. Or perhaps it is a number of decisions. One such decision was announced yesterday, as one of the most recognizable figures in the world gave up his job. Pope Benedict XVI is resigning, a move not very often taken by a person who has been given a position for life. Presidents have said, “I do not…

There was a study completed within the last 2 years about the unemployed. There is a deficit of 10.2 million jobs since 2007. Several employer related factors contribute to the inability of unemployed workers to find jobs. One reason is that some employers refuse to hire unemployed people. In fact, the study produced a figure of 82% of employers who discriminate against the unemployed. A second factor is background checks. …
