New Fall page

Does anyone else change page designs for seasons or any reason?? I frequently changed the 'theme' of my page at other websites, so it was obvious I'd do the same thing here.  However, for now, I'm…Continue

After finishing that paranormal mystery (Magic, Mirth, & Mayhem by Susie Swenson-- good, but not good enough to buy the sequels)--I took time to go through the 'list' for "next".  Surprise: 2 of…Continue

What pictures to put on here next?

Now that I'm "almost" done with weeding out my huge graphics folder, I'll need to decide which 'subject' of graphics to put on here in Pictures. Recently, I deleted all but this Happy Spring comment.…Continue

Dreams

I know "everyone dreams", but many don't remember those dreams. I do. And some of mine are in color; if you ever dreamed in color, you would know it.  Anyway, now that I'm older and have health…Continue

AGE

I heard an ad on the radio today that made me smile. I don't even remember what it was for, just that it talked about someone in their 50's needing something for a problem. Well, my 50's and even 60's weren't too bad. I had a touch of arthritis, but I still managed to do all I had before. It wasn’t till I hit my 70’s that things started going downhill. An x-ray showed severe arthritis in my back–which, strangely, actually shows up in my buttocks. And by then I also had arthritis in both knees.…See More

Our feline family

All of us are owned by one or more cats. Sometimes we adopted them and other times, they adopted us. However your feline family  was formed, this will be a forum to discuss their foibles, problems and joys. Feel free to post cartoons or videos as  long as they comply with TBD guidelines. Getting Older

This past month has been stressful. My husband 'thought' he was having indigestion; it turned out to be a heart attack. He fought me on calling 911--then fought me AND the EMT on going to the hospital. Luckily, he finally agreed. After 2.5 days there, he had a cardiac cath, where they cleaned out some and put in 1 stent. He's doing ok, but has a few side effects from all the new meds he's now on. For almost 2 weeks, he couldn't sleep much, had almost no appetite (lost 5 pounds), and a couple of…See More

Who am I--now? Avatar?

As everyone can see, I've used a special 'avatar'/signature on all the graphics I've made for many years. I chose Altara after my first favorite sci-fi movie: Forbidden Planet. I didn't like how 'they' spelled the name of the character Ann Francis played: Altaira. I changed it to make it 'mine', when I started writing back in the late 1960's. When I started a website online, I chose Altara as my username.  But that site is now…See More

Does anyone actually read Blogs???

I really enjoy writing Blogs. I don't even need 'comments'. But I'd really love to know if ANYONE actually reads them here!!   Even a one-word comment: like 'nice", etc. would do. I'm considering trying somewhere else to write my blogs. See More

Watching an old fav tv series

Today, I finished the final 'folder' in my Graphics collection. It was TV Shows. And the last subfolder was: Stargate. That reminded me that I haven't watched Stargate: Atlantis in some time. Actually, that was right after my daughter gifted me the entire series! Maybe 2-3 years ago. So I decided it was time to rewatch it. I'm watching the two-part beginning right now. I love this series. See More

High School Memories

I just saw a posting at FB about 'local bands' in the St, Louis area. I immediately thought of the one at my high school in the mid 60's. Boy, does that take me back!  I really hadn't thought about them in many years; but now I have to wonder what happened to the guys in that band. I'm sure none of them went on to be professionals, but have to wonder what they all ended up doing.  Here is the photo from that article:See More

Computer problems?

For the last few days, I've noticed that my laptop 'freezes' at times. At first, I thought it was the 'game' I was playing, but then it happened when I was playing Solitaire--the one that comes with all Windows computers.  It was happening frequently, which worried me.    So, since it's been 18 months since I did a Reset on this 6-year-old laptop, I thought maybe that's what it needed.  My other option was to ask my computer guru to look at it, to see if they could see what the problem was.…See More

Cleaning out things--and a suprise find.

A few days ago, I decided to clear out my huge graphics folder. When I had pages at another site, I used a lot of graphics. I had 'theme pages': everything from my favorite tv shows to my favorite colors, etc.  My Graphics folder, even after a bit of weeding, was still 20.2 GB.  Within two days, that 'huge' folder was down to 9GB! And there's still almost 50 folders to go through. I'm sure most of those are Duplicates, so...I don't expect to keep many from those folders.       My main idea was…See More

Names for Drugs

Am I the only one who notices that there are 'new' drug names almost daily??  Some of them are so far out, ridiculous that it sounds like teenagers are naming them. Not to mention, if they'd stop all the TV advertising, they could cut prices! I just saw another one: Fasenra.  I don't know about everyone else, but 'I' don't tell my doctor which meds I'd like to try! I think my doctors are much more capable of choosing which one fits my symptoms.  Out of my 6 meds, only one is 'name brand'. Being…See More

Nice to hear from you! I am never on TBD anymore, mostly since I'm not on my computer like I used to be. I am still reading, though. I'm currently sloggin through an interesting history of the Orkney Islands called "Storm's Edge: Life, Death and Magic in the Islands of Orkney" by Peter Marshall.

Hope you're doing well and thank you for reaching out!
