Reading and other things

I usually read one book every day; but lately, 'real life' has been a mess and I simply couldn't concentrate on a book. So I ended up 'reading' short stories on Facebook--also known as REELZ. Yes, they are probably all written by AI--witness: same names, many variations of same plots, etc. However, each one is like a short story--some pretty long--that can be read in one settings. So, they were perfect for me recently.

But a couple of days ago, I decided to actually choose a book. Well, this past week, my 2nd hand iPads (yes 2, which are now 12-15 yrs old, though I've had them maybe 2 and 4 years)  quit. Not completely, just where Kindle is concerned.  They will download books, but never open. At first, just reinstalling worked- for a day or 2. That's really bad, since I generally read in bed, with the light out.

Well, then I accidentally realized that I can 'read' Kindle books via THE CLOUD, without actually downloading the Kindle app. Yay!  So today I decided to try it on the mini iPad (right now it's actually working on the other one). And it works!  The thing is, I'm not completely sure HOW to get the books.  There was only one listed, so I'm reading it now.

We'll see how it goes!   Things are starting to settle down here, so I'll be online more, like usual. My husband's heart attack and the problems after that have kept me distracted. But he's doing ok now, though he's not happy about some of his appointments.  So I'm trying to get back to normal.  I finally had time/energy to set up my own appts: 4 next week. Then, at the end of Oct., my dental stuff--which is another whole subject.

I  figured it out: using a browser, I 'find' the book at Amazon, then click on "Read now". I can't get the books from my account, since that's the Kindle format; but this works. Then I remembered I also have the BookFunnel app on iPad, with lots of books in that account--so that's another option.
