Fractured Haiku/Senryu

Information

Fractured Haiku/Senryu

A place for those addicted to 5/7/5 or a more cynical, darkly funny version...Come get your fix.

Members: 77
Latest Activity: Jan 22

Format

The format is simple: three lines of verse with 5/7/5 syllables, respectively.
Haiku, traditionally, must include at least one image of nature, a seasonal reference, a "cutting word" that acts as a kind of verbal punctuation mark which signals the moment of separation of two juxaposed images, and no punctuation or similes; senryu is generally about human foibles. There are more rules to be found in the links below, if you're a purist...but WE BREAK MOST OF THE RULES HERE.

Each new discussion should act as a topic for haiku/senryu from the whole group. So, for example, the discussion "Joy" is a place to write about whatever lifts your spirits or puts a smile on your face. Sometimes, the author of a discussion may have particular criteria for what you are to write; for instance, he or she may ask that you use a specific word or words in your haiku/senryu. So be sure to read the author's instructions.

Everyone is free to post a new discussion...and please do. The more topics, the better.

Welcome to our new digs, Olivia and Eve! When you go into the discussions, you'll see that the format is different, but it, essentially, works the same. And you'll see our friends from TBD Prime, and that the creativity goes on.

Jaki...are you asking if keeping the log is good, or if the writing is good? Do I have to come over there and....tee hee.

I kept a log from
the old place, my writings. Good?
Maybe. Maybe not.

Hi all, I made it! So glad to see you all again and look forward to sharing and being inspired! Peace and blessings,
Eve

Thank You!

DZGD for your kind comment...I would have felt like a ghost, wandering cyberspace with nowhere to feed my addiction to 5/7/5. And I'll be sure to go thank Chuck for the "emoticons." I'd created some, but wasn't sure how to make them available for everyone...technodunce here!

Psst! We lament the lack of kudos, but look what Chuck created for us to use!

Lock this by bookmarking it into your toolbar (add a google toolbar - it has spell check and other great tools too) . Open TBD and open this tab too. You can move back and forth btw the two and copy and past one (or several in a row) of the icons as you deem fit.

Don't forget to thank Chuck. It's brilliant!
Cheers! Cheers

Gosh, but it's good to have a haiku home. I didn't save any from TBD1. I decided that was yesterday, and the training field of dreams. I've vowed to study more an improve. New home, fresh start! Thank you Angharad!

Hi, I'm really the old Westerly. I can't access my old profile anymore, for reasons only the computer gods know. So I'm starting all over again, y'all.

Here I am again
hoping to be of value
Be patient, my friends

Wonderful to meet you, Caroline! As you see, we're not strictly writing traditional haiku, but whatever it is we're doing...it's fun and a good creative outlet. Join in the discussions or add one...

sweet, smiling new face
creative juices flowing
happy to have you!
