Last night I went to my first ever professional Hockey game. We did the whole "Great sports fans thing to start. Food and booze in a club room. Then we went out to the arena. I wished I had a parachute. At least there was no one sitting between me and the stairs. I would be able to get to the bathroom, if/when needed. That was before the 4 guys, each weighing about 300 lbs sat in the four seats between me and the stairs. Oh well, We were rooting for the capitols. The number one team in their division. They were playing the Huricanes. The last place team in their division. A really feel good evening. Well, after the Huricanes scored 3 goals to the Caps big ZIP in the first period, I started to wonder, Will the headlines in the Washington Post on Tue be "Local Father attends Capitals game with son". "Casts unbeatable jinx on local team". Mr Robinson will be forever bared from Verizon Center? Turns out it really wasn't my fault. The Caps had traded the team Capitan and another well liked player away. they announced it to the team just before the game. Sure fire strategy for winning. Right?
I did enjoy the evening, but I am not sure that this experience will turn me into an avid Hockey fan.
Are you a professional sports fan? What sport?
