TBD

TBD on Ning

Our grandson, who's a high school senior, has a gay friend. His friend is from another school district and is in college. Caleb has a couple of enemys in his class who got wind of this friendship. He received 50 texts yesterday from classmates advising him of rumors circulating. My daughter called me last night to tell me. Caleb was so upset that he stayed home from school. I went over this morning and Tracey, Caleb and I talked. I asked him if he abandoned his friend over this. He said no, of course not. I don't think I've ever been prouder of him. He will go to school tomorrow, and if and when he's asked if he's gay, he will simply chuckle and say no, but he will always be friends with Rick because he's good people.

That is truly something to be proud about Larry.
Caleb stopped by with Rick and another friend a few days after Black Friday. (They were hungry so what better place than Grandma and Grandpa's to get some food...lol) Caleb said that Rick was out shopping on black friday and got some great deals. Then Rick started telling us about his 4:00 AM shopping experience. He had Larry and me in stitches. All I could think of was the girls here on TBD and their shoe shopping!!! We laughed so hard. Rick is the kind of person that you just can't help but like. A real sweetheart.

I'm very proud of Caleb for realizing that people are people. You have good people (Rick) and you have bad people (the kid's who started a stupid rumor). You keep the good people close to you and stay away from the bad!!! All of Caleb's friends at school are backing him, so I'm confident that he'll get over the rumor thing relatively unaffected. And the brightest spot is that Caleb, in his wisdom, realizes that you don't throw away a good friend!
Caleb is a wonderful friend and person for staying the course and being true to his friend. I would like to tell you that I am not surprised though Kitty and Larry. I have been in many conversations with you guys here and know that you two have instilled the same Love and Compassion that you show here in your children and that in turn has passed to another generation. If only people understood how important this is, the world would be a much more pleasant place for all to enjoy. Please tell Caleb, from an old gay guy, how proud I am to have him as part of the future generation he is truly Good Folk.
Thank you J Lee S. I will definitely pass on your message to Caleb. He'll appreciate your kind words.
Oneof my daughters best friends when she was in HS was a gay guy. He still comes over and they remain friends. Above all he was black. A black gay guy. Wow--the neighbors had a fit. They went to one prom together because her then B/F was going to be out of town. They were the talk of the town. He just friended me on facebook last week. I know you are proud of your grandson. He comes from good stock(as my Dad used to say.) He will make a strong good man.
Gay and black. Yep, that'll get the white, homophobic neighbors whispering blondie. lol
Wow Jack. Thank you so much.
Kudos to your grandson. Kudos to you & Kittycat for being proud of him for his actions. And thank you for sharing this with us. THIS is the kind of thing I love to read about, write about, talk about, share, address. This is the stuff of importance & value. Thank you for this breath of fresh air. ((((((hugs!))))))
