Like most things wrong with this country I trace this problem back to the Reagan administration. During his deregulation fenzy restrictions on ownership of newspapers, television and radio stations and other news source were removed and this is what we end up with.

Oo, those pesky deregulators . . .
can't we lynch a few?

I dunno, seems like a lobbyist looking for public input - as long as we overwhelm them with demands to end the Reagan initiated deregulation of the news industry we should be able to bend them to our own will and get them to lobby on our behalf.

Subvert them.

I'm very lucky - I have two great radio stations I can tune into, Woodstock and Vassar College are truly independent. There is the Activist Radio program ( local liberal politicians ), Spiritual Hour ( Native American Indian readings ), a Democracynow.org synopsis, and Planet Blue ( environmental concerns ). I also receive the ACLU national newsletter.

It is the nature of Republicans to eat their own vomit, so just pat them on the head and say good doggie.
