TBD on Ning

I watched Coming Home last night with Jane Fonda and Jon Voight about vets and the aftermath of war on them.  The sound track was amazing, and each song played quietly in the background in its entirety; this had the effect of throwing me right back to 1965-69 when I was a girl and every young man I knew went to Nam.

Here is the list of the songs:

there's a ton of songs linked to the vietnam war era. part of it is just the time sequence the same as a lot of big band music is linked to ww2. vietnam was the first rock and roll war. the democratic thing about that war is that if you weren't in school, they took you. course that did sort of separate the ones whose families could afford college from the ones who couldn't.  heck i got to take a draft physical three times..the last time was beside little davey jones of the monkees who, belying his cherubic little face, had the foulest mouth i had ever heard. and in the meantime....

Gotta say that for such a stressful time, the music was GREAT!!!!

kinda like during ww2....perhaps during stressful times, people examine things more and sort their priorities...

i guess you could call this one vietnam revisited .. john fogarty again , only here's he's singin about iraq but he's also singin about vietnam .. and usin a yogi berra quote to get his point across .. did you hear em talk about it on the radio , did you stop to read the writin on the wall ,

brought to mind the question 'what made american politicians and military think that we could do in afghanistan what china, britain and russia failed to do?'

They are generally arrogant bastards. "We can do what ever we want because America is exceptional."

It surely was, crest!
