Since the only people who touch the doorknobs in this house are the three of us....I don't concern myself much. If one of us brings something home, we're probably going to get it, anyway. I do clean my cell phone a lot. It's thrown into pockets, purses, bras (don't ask), and car seats.....God only knows where it's been.....and I have that at my mouth and nose all the time.
I do, however, religiously wash my hands. Everytime I come home from my senior group, doctors' offices, shopping trips.....or just walking my dog. And I really scrub them. I must be doing something right, because I can't remember the last time I was really sick. Even when one of the "kids" bring something home......I can usually manage to avoid it.
i agree pa .. i think we need to let our own bodies do the jobs they were designed for .. one of the problems with this merca kinda germ is the overuse of antibiotics which breeds these super germs that are resistant to all the antibiotics we have .. don't get me wrong a little bit of hand washin is a good idea .. but the overuse of all these germ killin cleaners probably does more harm then good .. so a little spring cleanin here and there is fine .. but all the time .. not so much ..
I am not a germophobe either. Once I bought grapes that were so sweet that I ate some right then and there and my sister nearly had a heart attack. But that was years ago and I'm still here!
I also wash my hands a lot because I can't stand it when they feel grimy.
Too much concentration on germs is causing many problems--all the hand sanitizers take away bacteria that are needed for a healthy life.
I was a teacher surrounded by germs, but I think I must be too old to catch them anymore. I haven't had a killer cold in a long long time. BUT I also use zinc at the first sign of a scratchy throat and I swear it has eliminated at least 85% of cold symptoms. Alas, I do suffer with allergies, though. Most of my sneezes and runny noses are because of allergies.
Back when I was married my wife was so good at spit shining knobs ...
