Simple! Get an A/C!

The problem is there is no place to put one in my bedroom.  I have a sliding glass door and no windows.  I would have to leave the sliding door open to some extent to vent the kinds  that will work.  I live in the country and every bug or critter would be in bed with me.

My mother-in-law has one of those Mitsubishi units and it works very well I one large room. I think you would have to have more than one to cool a whole house. Hers also heats in the weather. They are efficient.
Maybe I should get a couple of those and shut off the two central heat and air systems.

I was just going to say try one of those on the wall units. Thank you, Pat!

Wow,I'm going to look into this, thanks!

You must have been a real treat when you lived in Texas.

They also have some that sit on floor . You cand move then room to room . Reviews say they are good . Now if I liveed in a windowless room I would get a chainsaw and cut a hole in the wall and install one . My cousin put one of the outside ones that worked with the heating systom he had but cost around 800 dollars ..

They called me "never sweat"  If there wasn't A/C I didn't do it.

Thanks, actually I'm pretty impressed with the price of these units.

Dwalt.....I am so pleased to see I am not the only one around here who doesn't like hot weather. And it seems the older I get, the less tolerance I have for it. If I lived in Florida, I'd be hiding in the house for the entire summer! I know stores and businesses are have a/c, but just in the time it takes to get the a/c going in the car....I am seriously wilted and soaking wet. I no longer want to go anywhere. I have to tie my hair up, and dispense with make-up, too. I find it really hard to dress up and go anywhere in that heat. I am too old for the shorts, flip-flops and twisted up hair-dos the young girls run around in. I have no desire to emulate my granddaughters. If I had a home at the beach, and all I had to do all day was sit under a beach umbrella and sip Margaritas.....great......but since I don't have any beaches nearby, and don't wish to share the community pool with 200 screaming, splashing kids......and I have a house to clean, errands to run, and meetings to attend.....it's no fun for me. I tolerate the summers.....I don't really enjoy them.

Exactly how I feel. Give me "dark days" and cool (or even cold) weather any day.  I hate going to bed when the sun is still high in the air and getting up (4:00am) with is coming back up already.  You can always put more clothes on but when there is nothing left to take off and you are burning up-..well, it sucks.

well i think its like anything else .. if you live in wisconsin in the winter you gear up for the cold .. down here in florida you gear up for the heat .. if i can i plan any shoppin or errands i have to do before 11am or after 4pm .. it don't always work out that way but more often than not it does .. i'll admit i'm not a fan of the heat like i used to be but the older i get , the more a/c is my friend .. and since i've been in florida wherever i've lived i've always had a pool .. so that takes the heat outta you in a hurry .. in fact go for a dip and then go in the house while you're still just a little bit wet .. your nipples will get about 3 inches long you'll be so cold .. and it will be 93 outside and 76 inside the house .. you'd think you're gonna shiver to death .. yeah i know its hot down here .. probably in the mid 90's most everyday from june till early october .. and it'll rain every damm day .. but then its so humid it has to . in fact its rainin right now as i'm typin this .. probably was about 93 or so right before it started .. i think the summer rains are gonna start early this year .. it already broke 90 over a half a dozen times or more already and its only the start of may .. but the good thing about the summer rains is it cools everything down and an hour after it rained you'll look and it there won't even be a trace that it did rain , cept for maybe a few ditches by the road that are flowin with water ..so its all what you can get accustomed to .. i grew up in the ny nj metro area .. lived in both ny and jersey but i don't miss it .. especially the winters .. i'll admit the summers down here are africa hot .. just brutal .. but a dip in the pool and you're fine .. it might not be for everybody .. but it suits me fine .. it all comes down to what you can deal with.. and believe it or not we do get winter down here too .. its nothin like the winter you guys get up north but it can get a bit nippley .. every now and then it will go down to the 30's at nite . not all that often tho .. usually the 50's at nite and the 70's durin the day .. and thats from november till about march .. who can complain about that ?
