My husband seems to do this losing crown thing on a regular basis. Dang it, stop chewing on caramels.

I was chewing on a cough drop.  Then I swallowed the crown...no, I'm not in search of it.

I have no teeth left . Sure do miss them . I miss eating peanut's that i so dearly loved .

My problem is finding the time ti go to the dentist.

I am at this stage with my barber. He is 80 years old and getting a little shaky. I am afraid I will soon have to go to one of those salons or something called a boutique. Life will not be the same. Do they tell deer hunting stories at those places? Do they tell stories about how so and so jumped up when a grouse flew through the window in their one room school, grabbed it and ran home with it? Alas.

No they don't tell stories at all. I have been going to one of those place for about 5 years now. There is not an old fashioned barber shop within 30 miles of here.

Maybe you could consider shaving your Head ?

More likely that I would just let it grow and have a long pony tail.

That be kewl too...

I got you beat!  I retired last June. My dental expired in July, but it was only $1500 anyway.  I got my last paycheck early August.  Right after that, my bridgework of 30 years broke and I had some work done early summer which also consisted of repair under crowns, etc.  I now have $8000 on my credit card. For all of last year, I spent $11000 at the dentist, but I take care of my teeth. This was all old stuff that had to be redone.   Bleh.  Kaching is right, but if your dental bills come to more than 7% of your salary, you at least get some back from the government.

I do commend you for keeping up your teeth . You don't realise how important it is till you loose them . Especially the last one .

About 8 or 9 years back I think the dentist told me I would need a bridge replaced and that they would have to do a root canal on one tooth of it.  So I went out and got dental insurance from Delta Dental through AARP and by the time they got my appointments lined up a month or two later the insurance covered much of it.  However, I kept the Dental insurance and it goes up a little every year or two as one gets older.  It is about $620/year now but I get two or three cleanings a year and they pay about 2/3s or so. They have a couple of different plans and other companies offer dental insurance also. One always wonders in life if one will pay out more in premiums (what the company hopes for) or if one will benefit more.
