Being a country singer it took real courage for Paisley to put out this song. He is getting a lot of blowback from country fans. I live very near Nashville and it has been in the news here all week. I think anybody who can't play guitar as well as Brad, and there are very few, should just shut up.

I think folks that want to make an issue out of it...will. Lots of ignorance around...folks used to be embarrassed to be ignorant...anymore it seems being loud and proud and ignorant is the way to be for many.

All this polarization from politics to religion to class to race to where you live..I really  blame a lot of the media for keeping the pot stirred. Seems controversy and 24/7 news cycles with lots of hours of blah blah time to fill. And if you aren't sure how to think about something there is some pundit willing to spout off...for a salary and some air time.

I don't know much about Brad Paisley other then he is a popular country artist...have no idea what his motivation was. and I listened to the song.

Brad and ll Cool J worked on this together. I was doing a little reading about this and the idea is for folks to have a vehilcle to spark a conversation...not in the spirit of hared but in the spirit of understanding and love.

I see nothing wrong with it ...

I agree iwth Pat.  He tells it like it is and LL Cool J is still so cute with those dimples!  People don't want to be reminded about the truth.

I liked country music better when it was all about broken hearts.  All this family stuff and statement stuff, I can get that anywhere.  Give me a good ole broken heart song with a steel guitar cryin' in the background.

I wonder what draws us to those song's Joanna . Seems that is what i sing most ...

Those old songs are life.  They are adult.

well here's a real country heartbreaker ..

as for the song i have no problem with it .. brad paisley can play the guitar for sure but i think he has the right to say what he feels .. he's acknowlegin the fact that he's livin now and not back then and didn't condone what happened back then but we are all products of our enviroment weather we like it or not .. it can't hurt country music to have a few singers write a song or two with a social conscience .. i'm not sayin to make a whole album about it now mind you .. we already had that.. that was the 60's and folk music .. but every now and then to use your celebrity to jar some people off their pedestals ain't a bad thing .. i think there's room for both , heartbreakin country and somethin socially significant from time to time .. just don't do it too much or it will lose its value ..
