Is there any solution that can really protect us from mass shootings or the Jock's, Dunn's and Zimmerman's?

Did you hear about the woman who heard a burglar entering her home and took her daughter and hid in a crawl space? She shot the intruder when he opened the door to the crawl space, and it took 6 rounds to do it. What if there were two intruders? 3 bullets would not have worked and perhaps she and her daughter would have been raped or killed.

What type of psych test would you like to see. What mental health issues would disqualify someone from getting a license?

Ultimately life is a risk, a violence is a part of that risk.

Certainly, it can and does happen randomly without warning to its victims and that is perpetrators want, victims for profit if not righting grievances that exist only in their minds.

As to method, certainly the availability of weapons is part of what makes violence happen, to enlarge and sustain violence.  But then again that doesn't explain motive and is motive enhanced by the ease of getting and using a weapon, a particular weapon when other means will do.

As to the right of using and have arms, the issue of the 2nd Amendment makes this all unique to America, if people have the "right" to weapons much less their use not controlled and confined and made, mostly illegal.

The whole point of the Bill of Rights, is rights, rights of the individual to control and contain government and government interference in public and private lives.

Ultimately the issue here is, if there is a right, then, is there a responsibility and how is that described and enforced.

As to violence that isn't in the Constitution unless you consider freedom of speech all inclusive of what the human mind can conceived, present and otherwise inflict on others.

First of all Congresswoman Gabbi Gifford and her husband are gun owners. To describe NRA members as cult members is not exactly fair. As I said in a reply to another reply, there are already thousands of gun laws on the books. Why do you feel that adding assault weapons (whatever they are) to the list? Why not enforce the laws we have and take a real look at why there are so many deaths. By the way the 42 killed in Chicago in January were not killed by assault weapons.

I know that the term “common sense” might be what told ancient peoples that the earth was flat.  Nevertheless, I can not help but feel that there are some common sense approaches that could be taken that could at least lessen the likelihood of mass killings.  This doesn’t only need to apply to types of weapons that would be permitted, but also to background checks, mental health issues, education and so forth.  Good parenting would help, but we can't legislate that.  Peoples’ attitudes need to change.

Assault weapons are basically modified guns that can carry a 20 to 400 round magazines...

That can fire all that in less than, one second...!

That's an assault weapon...

Now as for Chicago, that is a gang war, just like the gang wars of our parents back in the 1920 - 30's...

The gang wars during the 1920-39’s killed mostly adults.  Today in Chicago and elsewhere they seem mostly to be kids killing kids.  Age progression in reverse.

This is a story of self control and  marksmanship with an itsy bitsy shooter by a woman against a fierce  predator. What is the smallest caliber you trust to  protect yourself? The Beretta  Jetfire: While out hiking in  Alberta Canada with my boyfriend we were surprised by a huge grizzly  bear charging at us from out of no where. She must have been  protecting her cubs because she was extremely aggressive. If I had  not had my little Beretta Jetfire with me I would not be here  today! Just one shot to my boyfriend's knee cap was  all it took…….the bear got him and I was able to escape by just  walking away at a brisk pace. It's one of the best  pistols in my  collection……...

Even the most serious issues of the day can have their lighter moments.  Loved it. LLL.

Now that is gun control...LOL

hahahahaha!
