Does any of this sound familiar? Does anyone come to mind when you read this?

A demagogue (/ˈdɛməɡɒɡ/) or rabble-rouser is a political leader in a democracy who appeals to the emotions, prejudices, and ignorance of the less-educated people of a population in order to gain power. Demagogues usually oppose deliberation and advocate immediate, violent action to address a national crisis; they accuse moderate and thoughtful opponents of weakness. Demagogues have appeared in democracies since ancient Athens. They exploit a fundamental weakness in democracy: because ultimate power is held by the people, nothing stops the people from giving that power to someone who appeals to the lowest common denominator of a large segment of the population

I believe the point is meaningless because this country is not a democracy.  I think most people would agree with me that this country has become a plutocracy ruled by the wealthy for some time now.  1% of the population have more accumulated wealth than the cumulative lower 95% of the population combined, and they use this wealth to control this so-called "democracy".

The only thing the 1% are worried about is that this country still has a one person / one vote system, which could be a problem to them unless a majority of the 95% feel they will become the 1% too, if they kiss their ass.  It's hard to believe ~50,000 of the 95% had to sacrifice their lives to bring democracy to Iraq and Afghanistan, which they didn't;   all they really did was help the wealthy and their affiliated corrupt so called political representatives sell more oil and military stuff to line their own pockets.  God bless the United States of America and the military budget.

Are these the same 1% the Obama cronies are trying to collect $500,000 from in order to have quarterly meetings with the President? Is it that 1% that's the okay 1%, or is only the 1% that are Republicans that are evil?.

They are not all Republicans, but I guess if everything in life must be political, the most evil are.

In a democracy, those would be the ones destroying a representative democracy, turning it into a plutocracy via corrupt politicians that represent only the wealthiest.
