The Consumer Product Safety Commission does warn that some sports equipment may have unexpected hazards—for instance, brands of tennis rackets have been recalled because of possible exposure to lead.

Also in the category of Things That Are Dangerous But Are Not Ping-pong: One model helicopter had to come off the shelves because of—yikes—“laceration hazards.

we live in a dangerous world .. rocks are dangerous .. you could trip over one . or fall down and hit your head on one .. so are trees .. you could fall out of one . or a branch could suddenly break off and hit you .. or the whole damm tree .. and planes .. oh man dont even get me started on planes .. how many were killed on 9/11 because of the misuse of planes?? was it only 3000 or was it 4000 ?? and thats just on 9/11 .. how about the rest of the untimely deaths due to planes .. or automobiles ..or trains ?? so where do we sign the petition to outlaw planes trains and automobiles along with rocks and trees ?? am i the only one to see the danger here ?/ the numbers don't lie ..

nearly 1,000 people a month die from gun homicides....so show me the numbers for pingpong...that is a bogus argument like the "pot is illegal and alcohol isn't" discussion...one has nothing to do with the other in reality....and gun deaths are projected to pass vehicle-related deaths in the next year or two...the whole point is this guy is a fucking idiot....refusing to recognize actual facts is a major fault. we know guns are dangerous. we know some people like to hunt. we know there is a tradition of owning guns in this country. but we also know some people shouldn't be allowed to have sharp objects and we know that even if a deranged individual gets their hands on a pair of scissors, the odds are the numbers won't total 27 dead like sandy hook or 12 dead and 58 injured like aurora...so the next step is to figure out how to stop this ongoing epidemic of violence..

well the truth about gun ownership and homicides is that the rate of gun deaths is actually goin down .. and when you think about how bad the economy has been for the last 4 years thats sayin somethin in itself .. but there are 89 guns for every 100 people .. i'm sure tho that that isn't the amount of gun owners .. just guessin i'd say its probably less than 50% of the population that actually own one but close .. and if you go state by state some numbers are up a bit and some are down a bit but overall the number is lower.. but it averages out to 2.5 homicides by gun per 100,000 people per year .. the last total i can come up with is 8,583 per year .. and guns made up 68% of the homicides .. the rest were by knives and blunt objects and other weapons .. not sure what the other weapons and personal weapons were .. they didn't mention auto's, yet i'm sure there are some legit vehicular homicides every year too .. not everyone killed in a car accident is 100% by accident . but i have no idea what those numbers are nor does anyone else .. but the deaths per year in a car crash are about 40,000 .. a far cry from 8,583 ..plane crashes is a bit harder to nail down cause a few bad crashes in one year can bring the total way up and a really safe year can bring the total way down .. but it averages out to about 200 deaths per year .. trains are even lower still .. usually trains kill people cause they're on the tracks but the riders are on the whole pretty safe . the numbers i saw were about 600 fatalities per year but the majority of those were at railroad crossings and car and  train .. train wins so i'm sure most of them fatalities would be included in the auto fatality number of 40,000 per year ..  i have no statistics for rocks and trees .. but i still think they're very dangerous and should be outlawed at once ..i think the division of rocks and trees is keepin the numbers hidden so we won't know just how dangerous they are ..

frenchy...you are sidestepping the whole point with all that...assault weapons are made to kill as many as possible as fast as possible....now until deer and elk begin arming themselfves, the hunting argument carries no weight to justify assault rifles...in point of fact a republican with an a ratimg from the nra says there is no justification for them..and that's the name of the tune...not "well, kids fall off skateboards and out of swings, too!"...that argument is a johnny touches his peepee too plan...

 ...and death by pongpong or climbing trees or trampoline is a whole other story since those are pursuits in which people CHOOSE to participate...they willingly assume those risks of free choice whether it is bungee jumping , skydiving, motorcycle racing or whatever other potentially fatal sport, activity or even mindless stupidity they may pursue...it is BY CHOICE...not one of those people killed at sandy hook or aurora or tucson went there with the choice in mind that someone was going to shoot at them and try to kill them

i can give you a link to the highway fatalities too if you'd like .. so whats my point here ?? not much really .. just that everytime some fuckwad goes off his meds or just plain bonkers they blame the guns ..them guns didn't walk into that school all by themselves .. it took a deranged asshole to commit an act like that .. and i hear all the politicians cryin out that this must stop .. but i don't hear any viable solutions .. lets just blame it on the guns .. and my point is someone has to pull them triggers .. and thats where the problem lies .. a lot of people say over and over again that we don't need assault rifles to go huntin and try to tie that to the 4th ammendment .. but the 4th ammendment doesn't say anywhere that we need these guns to go huntin .. that was never the intention of the people to be able to bear arms .. in fact this is what it says ..

nothin about huntin for moose or elk or bear .. to be honest there ain't nothin about bein able to hunt your fellow man either so that would be a crime .. and i'm in full agreement that people who do use guns for the wrong reasons should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law .. i'm not happy about the amount of guns bein used wrong .. i'm also not happy about the amount of road rage on our streets .. or dui deaths.. or any kind of violent crime so don't misunderstand me here .. i'll just say this much .. those who don't know history are bound to repeat it .. when hitler was elected chancelor of germany  one of the first things he did was have everyone register their guns by law .. he assured everyone it was just a formality but it would be a crime to not register .. so everyone obliged .. once he knew who and where all the guns were he said ok now turn em in or you'l be jailed .. and once everyone turned in all their guns he had full control and thats when the concentration camps opened up .. whoa .. you don't like how he treated all them jews and murdered about 6 million of em ?? not to mention started ww2 and killed close to 20 million russians ?? well then you shoulda revolted .. oh but wait a minute .. you didn't have any guns cause hitler made sure of that .. game set and match you lose .. read that 4th ammendment .. thats what its supposed to prevent .. of course it was written when assault weapons didn't exist..but if the governmemt has assault weapons and the militia or the people ain't allowed to then they are not able to keep the security of a free state .. and every time the military gets a better weapon we the people should be able to also have access to those same type of arms .. now don't get me wrong i don't think everybody should be able to park a sherman tank in their backyard .. and there has to be some kind of balance to it all .. and where that may be i'm not sure .. i don't think i have all the answers .. or even half of them .. but unless they change that 4th ammendment i should have the right to bear arms in my own home .. i hope i never have to use them .. but if i ever do run into a problem i'd rather have the arms and be able to  protect myself than to not have them and wish i did as my last thought .. now i realize i'm speakin from a rational point of view and someone like me is no threat to anyone .. and there are millions of gun owners out there just like me who pose no threat to anyone .. so that brings us back to that one or two people out of 100 thousand who might .. and thats what this whole conversation should be about .. what can we do about those few that could put our 4th ammendment rights in jeopardy ?? because the way i see the world shapin up i think we're gonna need em .. don't believe me ?? don't think it can happen here ? look around .. the world is gettin crazier everyday .. governments are fallin left and right .. people are marchin on the state capitols .. the gap between the rich and poor is gettin wider every year and the unrest is too .. we can't even get congress who represents us to vote on a tax hike or actually to put back the tax rates that were in place when bill clinton was in office and we had a balanced budget for the first time since eisenhower for the people who earn more than 250k a year .. and this is somethin that 68% of the people want .. so who's representin who here ?? i can't remember where i read it but i think it was a supreme court justice who said it and it was pretty simple .. we can have democracy or we can have all the wealth controlled by a select few .. but we can't have both .. guess where we are now ?? sure looks like the wealthy are pullin some congressional strings here don't it ?? congress will say we don't want to declare class warfare on any part of the american public .. ha .. just what are they doin then ?? they say if we raise taxes they can't create jobs .. well they had these rates since the little bush was in office so by all accounts it should be rainin jobs .. i dunno maybe i seem to be gettin off track here but its all connected .. its like we're goin down the hiway on a really icy road and we could lose control any second .. but if we can just take all the guns away then when the shit really hits the fan then who gives a fuck .. if they don't like it they can lump it .. oh but wait .. you won't have any guns so you can lump shit .. the next to go will be the right to free speech and then a free press and finally freedom of religion .. its happened before .. and in countries that were way older than us .. in terms of age and maturity the usa is just about gettin their two front teeth compared to the rest of the world ..

It always amazes me how these fu**wits get elected to anything but they do. We have a legislator here in Tennessee that is introducing a bill to arm teachers with guns. I was a teacher for 40 years and their were times I might have shot a particularly obnoxious student if I had a gun. I don't think he has considered that angle.

and this just in from the NRA...it's not the guns...it's the media and video games...and they call for armed personnel on every school campus....(whose budget does that come out of?)...and they want that by the time school reconvenes after christmas...and they plan a pilot program in kansas with volunteer armed personnel........seems like they all get a membership to fuckwits anonymous......anyone else see all the holes in this sequence of events?
