Pakistan militants force girl to wear suicide vest

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) – An eight-year-old Pakistani girl was kidnapped by Islamist militants who forced her to wear a suicide vest to attack security forces, police said on Monday.

Police produced the girl, identified as Sohana Javaid, before a news conference broadcast on Pakistani television channels.

The girl recalled how she was kidnapped from her hometown of Peshawar and brought to the Lower Dir district in the northwest.

"There were two men and two women sitting in a car. They kidnapped me," she told reporters in Dir.
Forced to wear a suicide vest, she was transported to a security check post.

"They put one suicide vest on me, but it did not fit. Then they put on a second one," Sohana said. "I threw away the vest and started shouting (for help) as I came close to the checkpost and they (security forces) took me into custody."
There was no way to independently verify the story.

Pakistani authorities, who are facing a stubborn Taliban insurgency, have in the past produced would-be suicide bombers in front of television cameras. But they have been men or boys.
Suicide bombings by women are rare in Pakistan.
The Taliban have been blamed for many of the suicide bombings across Pakistan.

No, it's just a news article that I wanted more people to be aware of.  It may not be related directly to left wing politics and it has nothing to do with Obama.

I believe that this new practice of using  girl children as suicide bombers indicates both  that the Taliban is trying to exploit what they perceive as a western weakness in being less suspicious of children and the almost zero value that the Taliban sets on females.

The difference is this...the story about terrorist using children is true, the one about tens of thousands in Iraq is not. Come on! You Libs will believe anything about Bush no matter how extream and out there it is.

 These exaggerations really hurt your anti war cause at the time.  There was a legitimate argument against it that me and many others would have listened to. Instead we were barraged with all the mud slinging and lies that put me on the defensive. The preemptive war and nation building  starts a slippery slope where we do this more and more. The middle east is a violent area of the world that we will never be able to fix and we need to go back to the policy that we defend ourselves after being attacked.

 After all of the expense- lives and money, Iraq and afganastan will turn on us in a heartbeat. Sadam Huisen was our friend at one time.

These people will always hate us, lets bring our troops home leaving enough intelligence to know who to bomb when we need to.

I'm just double-checking here - If it's okay to persecute the taliban for their "religion", then I'd like to persecute the Westboro Baptist Church for the same reason. Yea I'm not a fan of the Westboro Baptist church either. The first time I heard of them, I was convinced that they wasn't even a church. I thought they were a bunch of atheist who called themselves a baptist church to smear the Christian religion.

 If they really are a church and they think they are doing God's work, they are really lost and confused. Every hateful thing they do I can prove them wrong through scripture.

They really do make Christianity look bad especially when you libs like to paint everyone with a broad brush.

I never said none were killed. Our military makes every effort to not kill civilians. Thats why dealing the war aftermath in Iraq and Afghanistan has been so difficult. Both sides are not playing by the same rules. The enemy knows that we will not target women and children so they hide behind them and use them as shields.  At the begining of the Iraq war the enemy hid their men and equipment in schools and hospitals.

If we were not concerned about collateral damages we could have bombed and leveled the whole place and been done in a matter of weeks. We are not only pressing to kill the enemy but we are also trying to win over the civilians to gather intelligence. We cant do that by killing them can we?

Yea you really like the mission accomplished banner don't you. The way I see it, and I don't know why the Bush admin didn't take this route...that was the end of the war with Iraq, Saddam, and the Iraq military. We owned Iraq, Saddam went into hiding.

 After that point it was dealing with and trying to stabilize post war Iraq, as we did with Germany.

The Bush admin really got beat up by the media and they didnt defend themselves letting their political enemies define them. It was Carl Roves job to handle the PR and he failed miserably he should have been fired during the first term.
