Dah Granny Crew, YO! You best not be dissin us or Hellen the Hellian will come afta you.
(Hellen is a 92yr old bingo queen) Then there's my 86 yr old neighbor Mina , a pint sized toughy.
I don't know what to say about that. Mina seems awful glad that I have a pool boy running around. Next year , maybe I'll get a pool.............. He's always flirting with Mina and making her blush.
I'm not sure what to do.
I ordered the new CD directly from an artist whom I admire and have a casual acquaintance with. I received the CD last Saturday, (Autographed - A nice touch) and played it on my show Sunday night. Selah.
Today I received another copy of the same CD - The one I'd actually purchased. Turns out the one they'd sent me Saturday was a complimentary promo copy.
Now, I will not ask for a refund. This guy is an underground, independent artist, barely scraping by, and he needs every penny he can get. Should I give the extra copy to a friend or family member, or should I donate it to the local library, hoping that way the most people will have access to it..?
At the library , he'll get the most exposure. Just ask them if it's going to go into the permenant collection or be sold at the book sale for $1.
Whether he stays in circulation or goes on the book sale list depends on how much he gets checked out - And frankly, he's so unknown that, in this musical risk-averse burg, he'd probably get very little movement.
That's why I'm thinking of giving the CD to my daughter - She'll probably play it for more friends than would ever hear it if they relied on the library.
The internet has changed just about every possible way that music is consumed these days; Kids don't go down to the library and graze for new sounds (like I did), they browse the internet and click. Making the effort to get up and go downtown to the library and shuffle through the CD racks is just too much work.
And, I'm not kidding when I describe this town as "musical risk-averse". Nobody would even notice me, my taste or my radio stuff in, say, a college town - Here, however, I'm genuinely considered a freak, a weirdo, odd, radical, maybe even slightly crazy and vaguely threatening. (This is a town where Garth Brooks, REO Speedwagon and Van Hagar still rule local radio, if that tells you how out-of-step with the musical times we are.) It's a very strange feeling to know that, in an allegedly modern, cosmopolitan city of almost 120,000 - And the capital of the same state that contains the city of Chicago, the home of the University of Illinois and the SIU Schools of Medicine - That more people listen to me on the internet, scattered from coast to coast, than do residents within the city limits.
Oh yeah, I live in Mayberry too. Do they play "Big Red Tractor" alot ? Alot more than they should.Coming from Burlington ,VT and shopping at the local recycling place,I have more CDs than I've ever listened to , but hey that's what rainy days are for. I am a fan of the way your mind works, bTW.
Now if I can just figure out how to do the radio over the internet thingy......................... I plead that I've been really busy. And just barely got onto listening to youtube. I'm a late bloomer to be sure.
The frekin' heat wave is making this the Summer from hell.
I worked 6 days straight, mostly outside , over forty hours.
I felt like kicking the bucket but was too tired to even kick it.
Rave the crabbing has been good. i am off work today and going crabbing down by the river in my back yard.
BETH!!!
So happy to see you...
Sorry for your crappy summer, but have fun crabbing today.
I got 2 buckets, a small one for the throw back little crabs and a big bucket for the big crabs, they have to be at least 4 1/2 inches to keep and cook.
I got 10 big ones. That was good.
The little crabs I throw back when I am done, let them grow.
Rant I need to wash /wax my car but it is tooooo hot.
