TBD

TBD on Ning

Dostoevsky. Crime and Punishment. I read it as a kid, then picked it up again on this trip. (This time son was reading it.) Absolutely rivetting.

I just finished Infidel (what a brave woman!) and was ready to start on Satanic Verses (S. Rushdie) before I was diverted. Next I just MUST re-read The Brothers Karamazov. Theres a reason this stuff is classical.

What about you? What's in your reading pile?

It didn't put you to sleep? ;-)

Finally finished Mark Twain's Autobiography. Now I need a new book to read.

I just saw Twain's bio [volume 1 of 3] up close and personal.

I don't think I've ever seen a book that big!

The man is interesting and all, but what could he possibly have to say for a hundred gazillion pages? In really small print, no less!

Most of the book is preliminary auto attempts, explanations of references he made in the bio and appendices, index.   A lot of filler.  Was confined to a motel room working out of town and finished that sucker.

I wonder when Volume 2 comes out.

Need the excerise?

:-D

I can't be the only one reading, can I?
Nope.  I finished reading Wilkie Collins'  The Moonstone and now I'm reading Robinson Crusoe.  I'll eventually get back to the modern era.

I loved The Moonstone!

Have you read Woman In White? If not, you should.

You reminded me.  I made a note of getting it next but got sidetracked. One of the characters in The Moonstone made me want to read Crusoe.  Ha.

I'll see if I can locate a copy of Woman in White.  Danke.

I just finished "Dean Robb, an Unlikely Radical", a biography covering the first part of his life, until he moved to The Leelanau".  It was written by one of his sons.  Mr Robb is an attorney, and he met and worked with many famous and semi-famous radicals of a more socially turbulent time.  Its a nicely written book....I enjoyed it.  I'd recommend it to the liberally minded set, and to the open minded right as well.  Uh, Mr Elston....save YOUR money.
Right now I'm reading this thread.
I'm waiting for the movie.
