Subtleties of a sunrise...My "subtleties..." photo was the way my world
outside was this morning. The sun's glow was still far below the
horizon, casting everything in royal blue silhouette...the fog so thick
my shirt clung to my body after thirty steps to hide within it. As I
walked across the field, pausing to look at the yet unopened
wildflowers that abound here, I watched the flocks of geese and ducks
materialize out of the mist like winged specters, necks high in the air
to watch my approach. The silence was deafening...the roar of the river
reduced to a gentle murmur over the banks where Audrey's meditation
spots are still under much water. Thoughts of her brought a smile to my
lips, and my very wet feet felt the chill in the air enough so that I
turned and headed home.
One last look over my shoulder witnessed the rays of the sun peeking out here and there, muted by the thickness of
the air....soon, that, too, would be gone, burned off by the light and
heat of our star, the birds will have fled to more shaded waters, and
when I woke my daughter, she would have nothing to wonder at out in the
vast empty field.
