Sorry folks but I do not think anyone of us has the right to carry a loaded weapon anywhere near a president. The president has not threatened to take anyones guns away, so saying you are carrying it because it is a right you STILL have implies you think you might not have it for long.

A riffle has a two mile range, and I don't think these gun toters were that far from the president. THIS IS SOME CRAZINESS. These same people will be the ones complaining when after some DOES get hurt or killed by accident or on purpose and there is an outcry to restrict guns, but of course they will blame it on Obama. Idiots.

Grace, most gun nuts are morons, and terribly afraid of something they can not define. Just who is it that is going to attack or threaten them? The only people they have to worry about is other idiots carrying guns. Keeping a gun for hunting is one thing but showing up at these meetings with guns strapped to their hips shows how emotionally immature and infantile they are. Legal or not, no one should show up at a public policy meeting wearing a gun. Remember, when the marshals of the old west wanted to civilize a town the first thing they did was confiscate the guns, or forbid them to be worn in town. These people are intent on creating a climate of fear where violence can flourish. Many, we are learning are members of these paranoid militia groups. Isn't it strange when a black man becomes President all of sudden they show up where he is speaking with guns on their hips like the gunslingers of old. Why don't they go back into the woods where they belong and play army to their evil heart's content.

It's a bit confusing to mix arguments about guns and race in the same conversation. We should pick one or the other. I don't think we should lynch gun-toting black people, or burn gunless peace-niks at the stake - or would that affect the ozone negatively? If I lynch someone, would the use of a hemp rope calm the green party?

JMcAul you've exposed in great detail what Gracie is missing, the underlying agenda poking through the very thin disguise of a government nationalistic takeover. All under the assumption that if we question Obama then we are being racist. Gracie, not to single you out but from my perspective you may be unwittingly setting race relations back 100 years by backing Obama.

The first and only problem is that a gun was brought in the first place to a political rally, or event, regardless to whether he was black or white was a stupid, foolish thing to do. You can ramble and whine until hell freezes over, but a weapon of any kind in place where you can rest assured tempers will run high is about as stupid and dangerous thing a person can do. I don't care if he was licensed to carry or not. There is a time and a place for everything and taking a gun to argument only sends only one message. Although I also own guns, which I use for hunting, target practice, and personal protection, I don't believe a machine gun, or any gun for that matter in the hands of a fool, is a safe thing for any society. Especially now when extremists, over-zealous liberals and conservatives try to dictate the rules our society should live by. When common sense and dignified discourse and honest debate can no longer be done, in an orderly manner then our wonderful country has lost one of its greatest strengths, which is a democracy that is balanced and fair for all and not just some. Extremism, by either faction, is in every sense of the word becomes a dictatorship, which is worse than either socialism, or communism. But that is my opinion and this is my last word on this discussion.

With all due respect, that "impression" has come from the people Obama and the Democrats in congress have appointed to high office including AG Eric Holder who has made numerous statements showing his disdain for the 2nd Amendment, Harold Koh, a high ranking appointee to the State Department who has written numerous papers describing proposals for how disarming Americans could be accomplished through International law and many others who's statements and associations are not in keeping with people who understand and respect the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

Trr, you are right I saw the video and the man was black, non threatening, and what he had to say was said in a polished articulate and cogent manner. Guess Gracie didn't see that video?? Grace I wonder not in an accusing way but, nevertheless I wonder. Were you as indignant when the two armed black panther goons stood outside a polling facility on election day in Phila. intimidating voters? If you were I'd like to see those posts...really I would. BTW I did not read anywhere in the article that anyone was shouting slurs or that guns were being waved. Or is that what you'd like to see, jus wondering.

As for there being plenty of officiers at the political gathering. I seem to recall just last week, when a number of concerned senior citizens were roughed up by Obama sympathizers at a town hall. The sympatherizers were union thugs pushing and shoving "citizens" with a "legal" right to question. There were cops there who simply stood by and did nothing to protect those Americans. So it could follow that this "black" man with the gun felt it necessary to assert his rights in light of recent union thuggishness. Or does that run counter to your prevailing thought processes?

Would you like me to post Hillary's rather vocal comments regarding her and your rights to question the Bush administration? Or do we want to impose the double standard here? If you are indignant perhaps I am indignant at your slanted view.

Would you prefer I have selective hearing toward a liberal slant? If it was good enough for liberal Hillary back then, it's good enough for conservatives today.
