Mitt Romney has found bipartisan consensus alive and well in the condemnation of his premature political criticism of the Barack Obama administration's handling of the crisis in Libya.
Uh, no, its not the end of the "Livin' Out Here on the Leelanau" blogs.....and no, 'The Leelanau' itself is not coming to an end (at least I don't believe it is). This is a picture blog, taken today out at the northernmost tip of the Leelanau Peninsula. If…

ContinueBut then fall comes, kicking summer out on its treacherous ass as it always does one day sometime after the midpoint of September, it stays awhile like an old friend that you have missed. It settles in the way an old friend will settle into your favorite chair and take out his pipe and light it and then fill the afternoon with stories of…

It was sticky hot yesterday, when I got home from work.....hot and humid.
Its been one of those kinds of summers, alright. The fans in the house were moving hot air around. Jacques Young the cat and Monae Young, his sister, were listless, and sprawled out on the floor trying to catch some relief.
I went outside about 7:00, clad only in a pair of old cargo shorts, and sat on the front stoop. I like the term stoop. It was used more when I was a kid, I think. I don't really…

As an INTP, your primary mode of living is focused internally, where you deal with things rationally and logically. Your secondary mode is external, where you take things in primarily via your intuition.
INTPs live in the world of theoretical possibilities. They see everything in terms of how it could be improved, or what it could be turned into. They live primarily inside their own minds, having the ability to…

YOu may think that sounds kinda funny, like maybe it's my lame attempt at humor - well here's a news flash.
I DON'T HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR.
No I don't. Google claims there are seven articles for the above quote: "Woman sets…

George was my dad. He passed in 2002, on May 30, so this will be the tenth Father's Day without him. I must say, the time has flown by.
George usually signed his first name in the abbreviated form, Geo. Thus, he was often refered to as Gee-oh by the family members, and mostly addressed as Pops, the same name he used to address his father. We boys also called him Dad on occasion.......he didn't seem to mind any of those names.
Pops was a pretty mild mannered guy, he mostly took…

Just saw this on a friend's facebook page. It is from the Daily Kos. These are not my words, but they pretty much align with my feelings. Note, there is some strong language. Be advised.
I meet you all the time. You hate Obama. You hate gay people. You hate black people, immigrants, Muslims, labor unions, women who want the right to make choices concerning their bodies, you hate em all. You hate being called racist. You hate being called a bigot.…

The weather was unseasonably warm. After a relatively cool spring, the rising temps and unstable air had ramifications. As I drove south, my nose was assaulted by the rapidly decaying carcasses hidden in the growing grasses of the ditch by the side of the road. The stench was incongruent with the verdant green grasses waving in the wind.
A mated pair of giant Canada geese, flying side by side, just managed to clear the tall sleeper cab of a tractor-trailer rig barreling north…

Letters to Letterman
Hey Dave, It’s Dave! Can I call ya Dave? You don’t mind, do ya? Dave it is!
Ya, it’s me, Dave here. I know it’s been a while, but I’ve been a bit busy. Really I have. I’ve been busy. Howard Stern has nothing to do with it. So what if I can’t stand that guy. That’s no reason not to keep in touch is it?…

New York state's Michigan "Red Hots" are one of the most fascinating hot dog varieties that I've come across so far. The history of the Michigan Hot Dog is a jumble of legends, a culinary anthropologist's dream. Also known as "Texas Red Hots" but found…

"They go to hell," was my ready and orthodox answer.
"And what is hell? Can you tell me that?"
"A pit full of fire."
"And…
