Kooner's Landing

Be your authentic self; be here to make friends; behave. There are no "inside" people and there are no "outside" people, there are only those who participate and those who do not. Yup, it's that simple if you let it be :)

Some of us have joined up at epicyears.com and boomerville.spruz.com; I use the same name on those sites, so if you decide to join them, look me up!

You're lucky, at least you like the leftovers from it if you end up having Thnksgvg dinner at your place; my prob, I don't like turkey or most of the traditional Th. stuff, not even pumpkin pie (only good pie is a chocolate pie, I always say); the only leftovers I like are prime rib or steak.

Neither of us really like to entertain (both introverts). My wife dreads it because she feels she has to spend hours prepping the house for company. She also feels responsible for structuring activities for the grandchildren, which she enjoys, but it still takes a lot out of her.  I do most of the cooking and so stay out of the way in the kitchen, even after the meal doing clean-up. I must admit going out, with family, was a lot better but I miss the left overs and so I plan to prep an entire meal here just for that purpose.

Yeah, I wish I could talk Hubby into going out or just having a quiet 1 here with just the 2 of us, feel like I'm getting too old for this holiday hubbub, but no dice, he luuuuuuuvs to entertain.  And I know I shouldn't complain since he does 50 percent of the work; but 50 percent of too much work is still too much work.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. We went out this year - so much easier.

Yeah, I could go with Judge Judy.

I read an interesting article about write-in votes this election. It seems that there was an unprecedented number of people in my county that were not satisfied with the ballot as given. Being from Ohio, many of the write-ins were no surprise; John Glenn, the manager of the Indians, the head coach at Ohio State, etc. Apparently not all of the religious right went with Trump because Jesus Christ got more write-ins than anybody else. I personally voted for Judge Judy. She can be just as blunt as Trump only she refines it with common sense.

Thank you for caring, officerripley!

Those reactions from people you would think are reasonable, educated, and intelligent are just astounding.  Yes, we should all be afraid.

Wow, grammyk,my heart goes out to you & yours; even some of us anglos are worried & I fear espec. for those who aren't (incl. women). It's so frustrating: the a.m. after the election, I was working my volunteer job at the country library & in walks a young, anglo-looking guy--who if I had to guess might be homeless, we get a lotta 'em hanging out in there--& with a big grin on his face says in a loud, almost-yelling voice, "Free at last, free at last; thank god almighty we MEN are free at last!" I thot to myself, "You dumba$$; if u r homeless like I think u are, we just elected a prez who will be cutting bk libr hrs even more than the conservatives around here already have. Where ya gonna find to get in out of the weather then?"  L8R that day I was griping about that on another site & a gal who lives about 2 hrs away fr here in a well-to-do, white community & who's a teaching assistant at a jr. high (middle) school said the a.m. after the election in the classrm she was monitoring, a bunch of the boys starting yelling "Grab her by the p*ssy!" and "NOW we can go kill us some n*ggers!"  She told the teacher of the class--who made no secret of the fact she voted for trust-fund donnie--what happened & the teacher just said, "So?"  The assistant said she said to her, "Well, don't you think that's hate speech & something should be said to them about it?!"  & the teacher sighs this put-upon sigh & says, "Oh, all right, all right, they shouldn't have used that word so I'll say something to them."  & the assistant said she thought to herself, "You said 'word' singular; which 1 of those 2 bad words do you think is OKAY?!", but said, "Well if the 'word' you referring to is the 'P' word, our Prez-elect uses it so I guess--"  And the teacher cut her off & says, "Oh no, he didn't!"  & the assistant says, "Uh, yeah, he did, it's been all over the news & he even admitted it & tried to pass it off as 'lockerroom talk'."  And the teacher says, "No, he didn't; I don't believe any of that for 1 minute!"  And this is an educated (so you'd think intelligent, ha) person teaching kids.  We're doomed; be afraid, be really afraid.
