TBD

TBD on Ning

Dostoevsky. Crime and Punishment. I read it as a kid, then picked it up again on this trip. (This time son was reading it.) Absolutely rivetting.

I just finished Infidel (what a brave woman!) and was ready to start on Satanic Verses (S. Rushdie) before I was diverted. Next I just MUST re-read The Brothers Karamazov. Theres a reason this stuff is classical.

What about you? What's in your reading pile?

How is it?
Just okay, it is the second one of the series that I have read. The other one started slow but got better. maybe this one will too.

Has anyone read all the Stieg Larsson books--The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest?

I haven't read them. I think I'm the only one that hasn't. I always seemed to be reading something else and just never got around to them, have I missed anything or should I just watch the movies?

I haven't read them either, Quinn. My bff has & we just had a conversation about it. She says she enjoyed them, but they're not particularly intellectually stimulating. She called them a good beach read.
I'm reading The Sweet Life, by William Sinunu and am realllllllly liking it.  The author has traveled the globe and writes in vignette form about the practices and beliefs of many culture which helps him to better appreciate the important things in life. I am learning a lot about other culture's world views reading this book.

Havent read any of the Stieg Larrson, books. Did see the movie "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo".

The original with subtitles. It was outstanding.

I know this is the "Book" discussion but, I just have to say,"I saw "The King's Speech" tonight. It is a really good movie.

Yes, it is. We rarely go to the theatre to see movies, but we caught that one when it first came out & really enjoyed it. The acting was superb, wasn't it?

I saw it at the movies also. I thought it was wonderful and deserved any and all awards it received.

I don't usually see many of the nominated movies at the theater, but this year I made an effort to do so...I saw this one, True Grit, The Social Network, the Fighter, and The Kids Are Alright--all of which I enjoyed.

I left Black Swan a little over an hour in, and fell asleep at 127 Hours...

I haven't been to the movie theater that many times in the last five years :-)

Just finished Fight Or Die : The Vinny Paz Story. Former boxer and cousin to Ms. funes.

Want to start reading Chaucer's Troilus and Cressida.

Finishing up Jim Butchers "Dresden Files" series right now and just picked up "An Open Heart" The Dalai Lama and also "Life's a Campaign" by Chris Matthews. Which do you think should be next?
I am going to read the newspaper.

:-)
