Hey Sailspinner, Next winter I'll borrow my neighbors Class A and pay you a visit! - LOL - AL
The midwest is my favorite part of the world and I'll always be a Hoosier regardless where I live. BUT this winter has convinced me that living in the south has been one of the best decisions in our 58 years of marriage. We had a rough winter - for Georgia - but nothing like you've experienced in MO, IL, OH, IN. And you are into tornado season already??
Our redbuds are blooming and dogwoods will pop in the next few days. Temps are up & down (freezing the past 2 nights) but, for the most part, springlike. Let me know when you're ready to emigrate. lol
Hi Chief!
WoW! That is starting the season early!!!
In the last 24 hrs. we've had, sun, sleet, snow, followed by rain and fog!
AL
Chief,
Same here! Still have lots of snow on the lawn in places.... Was a nice day yesterday, today SNOW!!! I'm ready to look at moving south!! - LOL!
AL
Hi Sailspinner.................
Glad to hear that you no longer have to worry about loss of power during your storms... That is one less thing you have to worry about!
I purchased a portable generator yrs ago after we were out of power several days, and was worried about our sum-pump (which normally doesn't run). On a couple of occasions, I hooked it up, and then the power came back on!
Now the need for stable power is more critical as my wife is on an Oxygen concentrator. So far so good!
AL
Ok, Al has snow but Chief & Shelly haven't had anything to say lately. Snowed in or simply disgusted? Or maybe spring has sprung & they are busy outside?
Our 4 day power outage a few weeks ago convinced me we should go ahead & buy the generator we've dithered about for several years. Today is the day it gets wired to the well and house. No more worrying about losing food in the freezer (and hubby can be distracted with tv) when power goes out. That has happened only 2x in the past 5 yrs. but all it takes is one long outage for lost food to equal the cost of the generator. Then it's back to rehabbing the pontoon boat. The garden isn't doing much yet.
** SNOW**
Been wondering how you guys are getting along. I hesitate to post because we're having great spring weather. The Bradford pears & redbud are blooming, the daffodils are almost finished, some trees are "fringy" green, tulip leaves are up, temps are in the 50s & 60s most days. Just above this comment space I see Al's Feb. 6 headline "Need Snow - NOW!!! My how times change. lol Hang in there. Mother Nature will get around to you - sooner or later.
******************* SPRING ???? ****************
I'd like to know where?? It's 5 AM, 28 degrees outside, and we have this WHITE stuff floating down covering my side deck!!
Cheers!! - AL
Hi Chief
Glad to hear that you now have some nice weather!!
Nothing has improved on our weather front! Although we have had some warm days, we continue to experience either rain or SNOW! The good news in all of this is the last storm went south of us, and we missed a couple of inches of rain. Had that been 50 miles north. Would have been a disaster for us along with another 10 - 12" of snow!
Although it's been rather balmy this past week, I still have 12" - 24" around the yard, and a 36-42" pile along the driveway. So we need lots of warm days to melt the stuff!
Now today started out warm i.e. 42 degrees, and the temps are dropping, we will be getting RAIN shortly, that will in turn to snow! So we just can't get away from it! And to think that SPRING is suppose to start TOMORROW!!!!!!!
