Well........

It's going to be a wet holiday weekend - LOL!!!!

Started raining again, and may be most of the day! Yesterday we got a little over an inch.... Looks like a possible 1+" today!

So it's clean out the garage day! Have been putting that off for months!!!!

Cheers! - AL

Morning Bruce!

We were much the same up until yesterday afternoon! The weather folks had been reporting a minor storm passing thru north of us up in WI. and that parts of N IL might see some rain out of it!

Well as usual they were incorrect. It came a lot further south that estimated, and rolled in FAST. With lots of lightning...... haven't seen a storm like that in yrs... Did get a lot of rain, but i'm not sure as yet. With wind gusts of 60-70 MPH. We were out for dinner when it hit, and decided to go back into the restaurant as it was soooooooo windy, it was hard to stand up, and I wasn't sure if we could make it to the cars. In the end it blew thru and all was well!! LOL!

Cheers! - AL

Wells are 300-350 around here! But when they go dry, they are going to 700+ to get a good volume of water.

With the deeper well, requires a larger pump, which also requires larger electrical wire ($$$$$$). So a pump set at 500 Ft. requires 1,500 ft of wire, plus additional wire to get inside the house.  Then you need a new larger tank, and the $$$ just keep on adding up!

Our 1st house was at ~ 35-40 ft. Now houses in that area are at 200 - 300 ft.

$30 grand to dig a well?  Wow.  Our well went dry a couple of years ago and it was only $5k to go down 365 ft. into the aquifer.  How deep are wells in your area?  Weekenders have 35' wells here & don't have a problem but some of us full-timers went dry during the last drought.

Hmm don't know if my husband would cotton to my using his Scotch on my chiggers.  Maybe I'll try it when he's not looking.  Shhh.  Mosquitoes, no seeums, and chiggers are much worse this summer & I'm sure the abundance of rain has a lot to do with it.  Most days we can't sit on the deck without getting bit unless there's a breeze.

Hi Gang!

Well summer has finally arrived! We are running 3-5 degrees above normal, and the relitive humidity is running above 60%, so it feels really soupy outside. So the only time to be outside is 5 - 9 AM, then it's time to stay inside for the rest of the day! As for Rain, What's that??? The last two storms took a left hand turn and went north!

Another neighbor has run out of water, so they are drilling deeper. There goes another $30K or more!! - Bummer!!!!

Grandkids are over, so we are staying inside and playing, and watching TV.

Older grandson had a fun morning, watching the Sanitation Engineer put his green pipe in the ground and suck stuff up. Was really interested in how much noise the truck made. Then he got a tour of the Big Green Truck!! - LOL

As for GrandaPa, trying to stay cool these days!!!! - LOL!

Seashelly, enjoy your weekend. Don't stay out too long as we don't want you to get burned! As for those little pesky chiggers, I use an eyedropper and drop a couple drops of Scotch on them, and boy, they don't like that and vamoose...

Sailspinner, Ya those little pests are a PITA, that's why I use lots of weedkiller to keep the brush / weeds in check. Which in turn reduces the numbers of Chiggers.......

Cheers! - AL

Hi Sailspinner, yep it is a muggy day up here...this is our "Dog Days of Summer" I can not believe there is only two more days left in August. I think we are in the clear as far as storms go today. I hate those chiggers, they really itch bad. Surpisingly we are not being bit up with mosquitos, the city comes and sprays..so that is keeping them away. My garden is still looking good, no peppers yet. I have plenty of peaches and tomatoes. Been enjoying them, and has been saving on the grocery bill. Have a fun and relaxing weekend with your kids, Sailspinner!

Ok, this is what we expect in August - temps in 90s, muggy, sunny, dry.  We have a chance of scattered thundershowers but nothing showing on the radar now.  Finished weeding along the fence & cutting trees that have grown through the chain link so now I just have to deal with chiggers.  I'd forgotten all about the little pests.  Oh well, an infestation every few years isn't too bad but it's not a habit I want to keep up. lol

Mid 70's and sunny at 12 PM, Suppose to be in the low 90's through Sunday. I will be going to the Irish Hills of Michigan on Sunday, looking forward to seeing family and boating...hoping that is if there is no rain. Saturday will be in Michigan also for Godson's Birthday...so it is going to be a busy, busy Weekend! Oh by the way it is wayyy muggy we have had rain for the past two days, and our humidity level is at 99%! Feeling like a beachy kind of day,LOL ;)

65 in GA at 7 a.m.  We made it into high 80s yesterday but there was a breeze so, with the fan on, we didn't use the a/c.  Temps will rise all week, reaching mid to high 90s by the weekend so I'm sure we'll have to close the house again.  Dry week here, which is ok.  Looking forward to having the kids here for a long weekend.

Morning Folks!

Well we only made it up to 97 degrees yesterday! It's already 80 degrees, and it's only 4:30 AM. However, a cool front today will only be in the 80's and a great relief from the heat! HOWEVER, the rain has disappeared from out forecast! Bummer!

Hope everyone is doing well on Hump Day! - LOL!!!

Cheers! - AL
