Good morning, friends. TS Karen sputtered down to a depression so we god a good rain last night & this morning instead of hurricane remnants. We can use the rain so I'm not complaining. We expect a "cold front" tomorrow with a high of around 70, which is ok after a week of highs in the 80s & cool nights. It is fall after all.
When we lived in Indiana we thought a frost was required to ripen persimmons but, with low temps in the 50s, our persimmons are ripe & dropping from the tree into screening we rigged to keep fruit off the ground & away from the dog, foxes, and deer. We had our first persimmon pudding of the year this past weekend. Now fall is official.
Yaaaay. Every little bit helps. Maybe this sprinkle softened the ground just enough to let the next one soak in. Fingers crossed.
Can't believe it! We actually got some rain last night! All .35" - LOL. The grass is damp this AM, but the ground is still rock hard. So guess we wait till our next chance for rain next Thrs / Fri. with fingers crossed!!!
Cheers! - AL
Washing the car ALWAYS works. Must be something strange going on in your part of the country. . .
Cell svc is up in the air!
I though I could make it rain by leaving the top off the Red Corvette and left it parked in the driveway, washed my wife's 79 and left it in the driveway, to no avail!!!! - Bummer!!! - LOL

Who will you go with for cell service? Advertising makes Verizon look inviting - good coverage east of the Mississippi, anyway.
Keep the faith. It will rain - eventually. In the meantime enjoy fall.
Sailspinner,
Yup!
I've had it with their TS group. I would wake up around 4 AM to an AT&T error msg that they were having problems......... Call teck support and you have to start all over. Ask for mgr, to no avail. Even asked where they were so I could stop by and have a personal discussion with them. No response from AT&T!!! So they will be history in a few days!
Then I'm about to dump our cell svc with them for the same issues.........
All I can say it's a wonderful day!!!!! Was suppose to be raining by now! Not a cloud in sight, or on radar!! What can I say!
Cheers - AL
Interested that you mention AT&T dsl has been down. I've been struggling with very slow internet (AT&T dsl) for the past week. I've done everything I know to do and several suggested by my computer club gurus and still have "stuttery" videos and sometimes very long boot up time. Makes me wonder if AT&T is having problems all over. Cable isn't an option for me - we're in the boonies & no cable available.
Hello Sailspinner,
Glad to hear that you are finally having some good weather at last!
We are experiencing typical fall weather as of late, except for the lack of rain! Although "Chicago" reports rain for those of us living way west of the city, we haven't seen a drop!
As it's been soooooooo, dry, the township decided it was time to replace the large culverts under our road. Was suppose to take 3 days, and we're headed into next week already. So that leaves us with a messed up front yard, and lots of dust from the gravel road...........
Then ATT DSL has been down, so I'm going to drop that and switch to cable! Hopefully, that will be more stable!!! - LOL!
Spent the morning washing and cleaning up "Black Beauty" for my wife. So she can take her black 79 Corvette tomorrow out for a drive along with a few stops for food! - LOL!
Cheers! - AL
Perfect fall weather here in GA - nights in the 50s & days in 70s/low 80s. My netting is catching persimmons so the dog & foxes don't beat me to them so we'll have pudding this year!
Can you believe we're this far into hurricane season without a storm? (knock wood) We still have two months to go but the peak season is past. Maybe we'll get really lucky this year.
Hope you all enjoy the weekend where you are.
