Now it's almost 11 PM and we're down to -11 degrees............... Burrrrrr
AL
We had a beautiful weekend and today the wind picked up in front of a cold front. The next couple of days will be highs in the low 40s. I know, no sympathy from you in the north but for us that's chilly. How many days until spring? The seed catalogs are keeping me planning.
Snow? What Snow??
Those of us in N IL Dodged a big bullet last night and this morning! The storm came roaring down lake Michigan and caught Chicago proper, and N IN. They got buried..... Griffin received 20" of the whit stuff!!!
As for us? we received maybe 1/2" however, it's been blowing and drifting and the temp is down to 7 degrees! Time for another log for the fire!
AL
Morning Folks!
Looks like another cool weekend along with that fluffy white stuff!! - LOL
However, as the new week starts, looks like we will be in for another cold week. With some daily temps in the dingle digits, and overnight temps being well below Zerro!! Bummer.............
AL
Sailspinner, How are you doing down south??? Hope it's drying out for you!
Well, we've gone from WC of -45 degrees, to temps going to be approaching 40 today, along with some local rain. So with the frozen ground, we're looking at the possibility of local flooding...............
The plan for today is play with the grand kids,
Cheers! - AL
Indiana is still telling people to stay off of the roads. Early this morning, a TV crew was driving down one of the interstate roads and commenting that it was so cold out, that putting down the salt doesn't work on the ice. While the news person was talking, a car passes the news crew, then spins out, and slams into the cement wall a couple of times. Shattering the front end and rumpling the sides of the car.
It's still so cold over there, they cant get the semi's started that have been sitting since Sunday!
Cheers!- AL
We got down to 11 last night and clear up to 28 today. No trees took out power lines during the wind yesterday so we stayed warm but we got up this morning to no water. It isn't supposed to get that cold in GA! By nightfall we have water in the wellhouse but not in either of the two houses serviced by that well. Tomorrow we'll hit 45 & 55 by Thurs. so we'll see then what the damage is. We live in the south to avoid this stuff. Not fair. My niece in Indianapolis says they got 15" on top of the 7" already on the ground so I guess I shouldn't complain. At least we don't have to shovel.
Sailspinner,
Rumor has it that it was down to 6 degrees down your way! Hope you are able to stay warm!!!
AL
Well, it looks as things have improved a little, as the sun is out in all it's glory, and the snow plows are now out on the roads. As for the temps we are at a balmy -15 degrees...........
Sailspinner, looks like you folks are going to be down in the 20's for a day or two. Bummer!! Stay warm! - AL
Burrrrrrrrrr,
At 5 AM we are at a -15 degrees, with a wind chill of -42 degrees outside.... I've been awake on and off all nights as the wind has been screaming all night.
local roads are impassable and closed. our local township stopped plowing operations overnight due to blowing and drifting snow. I have no idea when snow plowing operations will resume....
Wind Chill warnings are in effect till noon TUESDAY!!!
The local newscasters just announced that all Local schools are closed, and the IL State Police are requesting everyone stay off the roads today!
