LOL!!!
Only 47 Days Till Spring!!!
Glad to hear that things are warming up for you folks......
Our weather is warming up, but one has to be very careful. Went our for breakfast this AM and the roads were full of black ice... Was driving the jeep, and over 40 mph the jeep would shutter, so I knew it was ice underneath. The Soccer Moms were impatient and were thinking of passing.... Well, two of them didn't make it, as soon as they pulled out into the other lane they spun out. Guess they didn't make it to MCD's!!

Our snow is almost all gone. Sunny & should be in 50s today, 60s tomorrow & 70s on Sun. with rain. Hard to believe the mess we had just 3 days ago. I like having a winter experience once a year. I've had that now so bring on spring.
Morning Folks!
It's a typical winter day, it's 20 degrees outside, with snow starting this afternoon. With 6 - 9" due over the next 24 hrs. with more on the way. Just another typical day here in the mid-west!
Cheers! - AL
lol, Grandpa. Reminds me when we lived in FL the saying was you could tell the Canadians in winter - they are the only ones on the beach wearing bathing suits &/or swimming.
A friend sent me this today, and in light of the weather, I thought I'd pass it along!

Morning Sailspinner..............
Agree 100%. Around here, the school districts monitor the weather forecasts really close, and call school off either the night before, or by 4:30 AM. Now with that said, our school district would have gone to school with-only 2" of the white stuff. We've had school when we've had 4-8" of snow. Our problem is blowistemng and drifting snow!
Now people down S have no idea the number of plows that are required to move the snow. Our local Township has a number of plows, as does the county, as does the state. Each of those agencies has the responsibilities to clear their own road system.
So until the combined municipalities purchases ~ 200 snow plows, I would suggest everyone in the ATL area to stay home.............
As a parallel, DFW has the exact same problem all the time. However their roads are a little flatter. They just stay home.. A number of yrs ago, we were in Richardson, TX for business, and were going home Friday AM. We were staying in a hotel right along the North Central Expressway. We woke up to everything covered in ice. So we watched the cars drive down the expressway, and they either couldn't get up the incline to get over the crossroad, or, they just crested the hill to find cars all over the place, not be able to stop, and slid down the hill till the came to rest against another car. Looked like a great game of bumper tag. Oh, Ya, we didn't get out of there till Sunday AM when the ice melter!
We're having a heat wave! it's 22 degrees outside, with snow expected mid day!
Cheers! - AL
Chief, not only do people not know how to drive on snow, I'm amused at national tv trying to assign blame for the mess. Mayor, governor - if things aren't perfect someone has to be blamed and make a huge deal of it. Yes, things are a mess but if we had such weather events more frequently people might leave work earlier, schools might be closed for the day, judgements might be different but people did the best they could with the level of experience and information they have. There wasn't any dereliction I'm aware of. So get over it/suck it up. Stuff happens. Now I'll get off my soap box.
We have black ice warnings for this morning but by mid-day temps will be above freezing and we'll be in the 50s for the next couple of days.
Hi Chief!
Ya, Atlanta has their share of "Snow" problems across the yrs.... I use to have a customer in Atlanta and spent a lot of time slipping and sliding around! But it wasn't a big deal!!
The problem wasn't the snow, it was the ICE that was on the roads.... Love the media, everyone is reporting on the snow issue. It's not the snow dummy, it's the ICE!!! OK, I'm off my soap box!
Sounds like you've had some nice weather. Our weather will be improving temp. wise, with several bouts of 2 - 4" thru the week. No big deal!!
Cheers- AL
Gad to here that every thing is OK for you and your family!!!
The good news out of that is you now have some snow and can drive on snow if your careful!!!
When it changes to all ice, it becomes a game changer!! We had a semi did a slide off on a major state road during the blowing and drifting snow. No one could get around the truck, so the road was closed till the following morning. When conditions improved and they could get a big tow truck out there!
Stay warm!
Yesterday I held my breath. Temps stayed above freezing until late afternoon, rain that was supposed to start at noon didn't begin until around 4 so by the time the temp dropped it wasn't long before rain turned to snow. We didn't get much ice here but Atlanta was in gridlock. We got up this morning to 2-3" of white stuff & the dog hasn't seen snow very often in her 7 yrs. & wasn't sure she wanted to go out this morning. It's beautiful but will get above freezing today so won't last long. Typical for GA.
My nephew, SE of Atlanta, said a 45 min. drive took him 6 hrs. yesterday. People couldn't get home to pick up their kids at school, some abandonded their cars & walked to shelters, trucks blocked roads - a real mess. Glad we don't have to go any place and VERY grateful we didn't have ice/lose power.
