Merry Christmas Folks!!
Oh, I forgot it's March? What's with all this white stuff on the ground???
Just checked the date on the PC, and in fact it's March 2nd, and we received 4.7" of snow overnight, so we've received somewhere around 71.4" of snow at OHARE. That is not the western burbs which have received even more......
So, it's time for another cup of coffee, and watch the snow flakes flutter about! Ah, the driveway can wait till tomorrow!! - LOL
Stay warm buds!!
AL
Hey Chief! You alive out there in the great planes?????
Nineteen days till SPRING! Are they kidding..................
We're running temps in the low to mid 20's for weeks. We expect to get 7-10" of snow over the weekend, followed by more cold weather then more SNOW on Wednesday!
Now to make things interesting, the nurseries are scheduled to start shipping Annuals to the garden centers in N IL in 3 weeks. What is wrong with this picture!
Bummed! - AL
Hi Sailspinner,
Ya, I'll vote for the Alberta Clipper to return. LOL!!!
Wish I could do some yard work - LOL However, I would have to cleat the 2 - 3 ft of snow on our yard. Then to make matters worse, we may be receiving another 10 - 12" this coming weekend!
Now to put things in perspective, temps this time of yr is should be in the 40's. The national Nurseries are scheduled to start delivering springtime plants to the big box garden centers within the next 3 weeks.
Unless our temps jump into the 50's soon, I think we are in big trouble!
Just received an email from a friend up in N, WI, they will have wind chills to - 50 degrees.................
Bummer!!!
AL
Been busy here doing yard work & our son was down for a few days to work on the pontoon boat. We're having a "cold snap" for a couple of days (highs in low 50s-nights in 20s) after almost a week of truly springlike weather. This polar vortex thing has been terrible this winter, especially for you northerners. Maybe the weather people should go back to calling it Alberta Clipper - things weren't as bad then. <grin>
Morning Gang!
Well here we are, almost MARCH and we're looking at temps in the single digits, 8 - 12" of snow, winds of 20-30 MPH, and WC of -20 to -30 degrees outside!
Now would you believe at this time of yr. we are suppose to be in the 40's!!! Not fair!
AL
Morning Everyone! No tree limbs down, that is good! Still have ice in the driveway. I was really really hoping that it would have melted or the rain would have washed it away. Rain totals in the past 24 hrs. is 1.74" in Toledo. My next door neighbor's backyard is partially flooded. My backyard is still all snow covered except a few inches around the tree. Temps are around 36 at 10:30 am with wind gusts around 28 mph. Chilly day here, stay warm Chief and GrandPa!
Chief, did you have any wind damage or tornados in your area?
Hi Chief!
Sounds like you got it all! And it's headed our way!!
It's 43 degrees outside, the sun is gone, and the FOG is rolling in! Temps overnight will be in the 20's, so all this rain will turn to ICE. Oh, ya, we still have high wind warnings till 6 AM
Ya, and they say it's only 27 days till spring!! - LOL
AL
Hi Sailspinner! Your weather down South sounds so nice! I look forward to seeing the flowers poking up. Think it will be sometime before I see the flowers, have to get rid of all the snow first!!!
It has been sleeting, freezin rain, thundering and lightening today...pretty strange to have the thunder and lightening, I thought??
Have the car sitting outside getting a bath....LOL!!! GrandPa, looks like your ready to get the cold front soon. Hope you do not have any WIND damage tonight. Looks like we may see some high winds here tonight and up until Friday evening. Could gust around 50 mph...geeesh! Mother Natures Way of drying things up. I am sure ready for Springtime!
Have a nice everybody!
I hesitate to even check in 'cause you guys are having such lousy weather. We didn't get the thunderstorm predicted for last night but rain is coming in tomorrow. North of Atlanta they expect 60 mph wind but here, two hours south, it should be 15 mph. Temps to drop into the 50s next week but we've had glorious days this week & I've gotten yard work done, daffodils and lenten rose are blooming, and I'm ready to order garden seeds and pick up my chicks next week at Tractor Supply. This week has been a preview of spring before we go back into winter, I guess. So keep the faith. Spring will come - eventually.
Hi Chief!!
Ya, Mother Nature is not happy as of late! We had rain, thunder and some lightning last night. So the snow is melting....
However, with 18" - 30" of snow on our flat roof over the sun-room. I was out on the roof shoveling all the super wet slop off the roof, so the roof wouldn't cave in!! Wasn't a fun job, but it's done, and I didn't fall off the roof!
The next few days will be in the low 40's, but then it's going to plunge, and we will be in for more snow!
Not fun!!!
Cheers!!!
