I was sorry to hear about Rapa, who I gather was the moderator here. I assume no one else has stepped up to take over? But apparently, a moderator isn't needed--since I was able to join the group anyway. I stopped posting here, since it didn't…Continue

Recently read a really different book MY LOVELY WIFE. If you enjoy stories about serial murders you’ll be startled at this story. Can’t remember the author but please Goggle it. Today picked up a right off the press book THE WIVES by Tarryn…Continue

I'm back to reading cozy mysteries (1 that's paranormal). I read a bit more of The Jupiter Game last night, but it's so complex, it takes a lot more concentration. I'm now at 53%. Others I've read lately: Mistletoe Magic by Melissa McClone & (now) Easy Bake Coven by Liz Schulte. It 'says' I've read it , but I don't remember it at all.
Baseball Before We Knew It"
I am reading "Baseball Before we Knew it" by David Block. It is fascinating, especially if you are a fan. As I am still reading it, I see the sport as having a number of individual origins, all apart from each other in various parts of the world, where boys had sticks and something to hit them with.
I always enjoy a light hearted mystery. I try to have a varitey of books to read. I am so spoiled with kindle, like most of us, I can have so many books at my fingertips! It seems decadent
Lyn, I really love this series. It's about the only other one I 'might' end up buying more of! It's also one of the few series I'm keeping after reading.
I did read #9--Carousels and Characters. As usual, very good. So far, the only one I had a hard time getting into was Sprites & Scuttlebut(#7). But I did enjoy it once I got into it.
Carci, I think I got most of that magical book club series free through newsletters. I only bought #8 and 9. Check out BookBub, The eReader Cafe, & FreeBooksy. All free newsletters. They have numerous genres and some free/the rest inexpensive.
Most of what I read now is not available at our library.
I've actually got a few paperbacks I haven't read! (a friend's husband dropped off a small box when his wife was cleaning out things). Not my fav genre, so they are still sitting here. I only read digital now--can read without a light on, in bed, etc. Lately, I mainly read in the evening (reruns on tv) and as I wind down before sleep.
Nice to see a few posts on Bookoholics again. I used to check in every day. So sorry to learn of Gloria's passing. In the last 2 days I've read Just a Regular Boy by Catherine Ryan Hyde, one of my favorite authors. I've read everything she's written and loved every one. I'm 1/2 way through Rolling Toward Clear Skies since yesterday and will probably finish it today.
I looked for your magical book series at my library but they only have her non-fiction baby books available. Amazon has them if you join Kindle unlimited but I prefer a paper book in my hands so I guess I''ll have to pass on that series.
Apologies forthe typoes in my last entry
I thank and applaud those who took up the torch after RAPA's passing, She and I acytually became good friends on Faebook and she sent me a book during my time in the hospital after a bout with cancer. She was evrything a person admires in another person. I came to really like her. ANYWAY, I again express my gratitude to all of you. I do read a lot and report now and then but my reading is mostly history (supposedly nonfiction!) so any reportage tends to have a more serious academic tone, boring to most. - Thanks for taking up the baton.
Dee Bee I am reading the same series as you. The one about the magical bookclub.
