I was sorry to hear about Rapa, who I gather was the moderator here. I assume no one else has stepped up to take over?  But apparently, a moderator isn't needed--since I was able to join the group anyway.

I stopped posting here, since it didn't seem like anyone was really interested. But I've decided to give it another try.

As I said before, I'm a voracious reader. Today I finished the latest 'In Death' book by JD Robb (Nora Roberts).  It's #60-- Bonded In Death. As usual, it was very good. It took me 2 full days to read it!    I am on a strict budget,  so I get these from my library. Sometimes it takes 3-4 months before I can get it!  I think this one was only on hold 2 months.

I usually prefer cozy mysteries, more light-hearted, without 'gore'. Some of this author's books were a bit too gory for me. And a bit too explicit in 'romance'.  I have noticed that in recent years, there is less of that. Maybe others felt the same as me.  But who knows?

I get a lot of free books from several newsletters.  Recently, I really enjoy stories with a mystery, some paranormal (witches or ghosts), and a touch of romance.

Today I'm reading a Science Fiction book.  It's another long one, so I might be able to finish it tomorrow. The Jupiter Game by Todd McCaffrey.    It's definitely a different take on the idea of meeting aliens! So far, we've seen 2 species--each with its own agenda. So far, they are communicating by 'text'--after the first alien ship sent a video of Howdy Doody!   By the 8th chapter, the reader 'sees' things from the aliens' viewpoint. A subplot features a radical group called DevilSpawn, which sabotages the communication between Earth and the ships at Jupiter.

This author is known more for his 'continuation' of the Dragonriders of Pern series started by his mother, Ann McCaffrey. I've not read those.

Thanks to Aggie for making me one of the moderators here.

Two days in, and I'm barely halfway through this book (The Jupiter Game)! While interesting, there's a lot of details, etc. I think it'll take me a week to read it, so I'm going to take a break & go back to more 'light/fluffy' cozies in between. What's funny: I've read more SF this year than I have in many years.

While I'd love to get more in the magical book club series — I really shouldn't (budget, lol) — plus I have so many other books already!  I think I'm going to start going through the 'Docs' (ePub, which is a different category at Amazon), since I have 254 in that folder.  I've been "trying" to weed out things I'll never read or those I've already read. Between 'real life' and designing my pages at the 2 social sites I'm now on, I haven't been reading as much during the days--mainly when I'm winding down at night.

After 'weeding' (so far), I'm down to having 22 years worth of books, if I read 1 per day!    Yes, I've bought a number of books in the past, but now it's 98% 'freebies'. Of my 2 favorite authors, I get one from my eLibrary & only buy those by 1 author (Bobbi Holmes--her Haunting Danielle series).

I've been busy with other things, so haven't read much. Then yesterday, I found a 3-in-1 that is a 'first in series' combo by S E biglow. Each book is the first in  one of the author's series.

First was: Pains & Penalties, about a woman who runs a comic book store, which her dad left her.

Second: Into The Lion's Den, the first of the Rev. Margot series.

Third: High Noon, a paranormal cozy mystery abut a witch named Darcy.   I'm not done with that one yet; but I enjoyed all three books.
