I see a discussion has already started about this in the consevative rant room and of course they have nothing positive to say about it. I consider their discussion to be much like their cheering when Chicago lost the olympic bid. So I thought I would rather see the discussion out here in the open. What say you, what a differance he has made in the eyes of the world.

OSLO, Norway - President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.

I don't want to rant, and I don't want to bash Obama. I simply think that there were people more deserving of this award.

I also think that if they don't stop giving out Nobel prizes to political figures based on their popularity, the award will soon lose its distinction.
O M G---now I will go to work, the economy stinks, and I could write a paragraph, but I do not have the time. God Bless America.
Stunning is never an appropriate adjective when describing a choice for the Nobel Peace Prize. No one should be stunned.
What peace? I don't get it, will someone explain to me why he got this award.
I think it is very cool.
I remember the furore when the leaders of the two sides in the Irish conflict received the prize some years ago... ten or more now? So many were scandalized because the 'Troubles' were still ongoing, that it was a prize for effort and not for a final accomplishment. And many supporters on each side claimed the other did not deserve to be included. But in the long run the encouragement to continue that good work bilaterally is paying off...
I completely disagree. I think rather it shows the level of gravity the committee places on the issues confronting humanity at this juncture in history, on issues they mentioned, global warming, nuclear arms, and the direction the President is persuing.

And as far as the Reverend Doctor goes, I'm sure he would view this as simply a major step in the fullfillment of his dream.

As for Wiesel, I'd like to hear what he has to say about that for himself.
Lol Hawk!
I think not...
Great!

Now when is he going to look into the problems with the economy, instead of spending billions on pet projects.?
So far I like this article best. I'm still gathering information, and am not ready to state an opinion yet.

I'm glad all over. He represents America. He has a certain vision and a rapport with the world that we have never seen. Well, I am only 55 years old. Maybe someone saw it before this.

Aside from my political beliefs, I like him.
It is very rare that I actually like a political figure, but I will admit it, and now I have.

What about that Letterman? Oh my!
(do you think he remembers me?)

LOL
