Hudson died in the closet a few days ago; we just found him yesterday. (He was old, etc). Now, wherever I go and what ever I do, that 'dead cat smell' follows me. How have those of you with similar circumstances dealt with this? Or am I just out there flying on my own? Mother Sanity

I have been burying bodies for a while, can't say they have been around long enough for me to notice a smell..Good Luck...Febrezze baby!!
It seems that once you smell death, you recognize it everywhere.
You making fun of my jokes Sanity?...They are dying here a bit :-)
no.
You should be...my jokes are sucking tonight! LOl
No, but really, once you drive by a dead deer dont you smell it 4ever. I have a convertable, and a deer that's been dead for a while can be, well, offensive.
Have you tried fabreeze?
I have had two pet dogs die on me, one inside and one outside, and after their bodies were removed, no scent lingered.I wonder if your sense of smell is more sensitive than usual.

On the other had, when mice die in the walls... WHEW! Whole different never-ending story.
youp. and lysol and prozac. Nix, but thanks for the suggestion! Mother Sanity
yup.
I am at a loss for words. Why did you not find your cat sooner? I hope the smell goes away, but I have heard the smell of dealth is awful. My cat died, he was sick and old also. He was at the vet's office. I had him cremated and he is in redwood box. I will leave now. Night
Well, we searched the house for him, ...but when a cat doesnt want to be found. In my youth (my wild and unbridled youth, I was a researcher at a pharmaceutical company. Death, dying was a standard routine. If we needed to kill a rat, we'd stick him in a chamber soaked with ether rags. Down went the rat in what appeared to be the gentlest of deaths (and I've seen it all...) A year ago I bought some ether (diethyl) and some chloroforn on ebay. (It frightens the poor animal so to be rushed to the vet in his darkest hour...let him die at home. Simultaneusly, theres a little voice in my head thats saying that this is gods job, lest ofcouse he's in Afghanistan sometimes.) Wee bit hesitant to try these methods, esp c the family around. Fortunately, I was granted aeprieve. (Animal Lovers, please try not to hate me...my motives are completely humanitarian...mother Sanit
