TBD on Ning

Do you remember where you were when you heard about the Twin Towers being struck? I was on my way to work at a Military Base and heard about it on the radio. I turned around and went home,

because I knew it would be locked down.

I was at work, after having dropped off my husband at the airport that morning.....

It was a long, anxious wait before his call came through.
I was just on my way out the door to go to work. I didn't understand what I saw. Total disbelief.
I was in Toronto. At home with my ex. We were preparing to attend the funeral of a friend's father. We watched it all on TV. By 4 PM my business partner and our staff were setting up rotational shifts to work out at the airport in the hotels and surrounding schools with the various relief and emergency services we are members of - to help with the accommodation of several thousand people who were suddenly stranded, and in lock down and media blackout in our city. I and many others personally housed the stranded that we could accommodate. It was a relentlessly gruelling and extremely difficult week. But however difficult it was, it was nothing compared to what New Yorkers went through that day, and the days afterward.
God, it is nearly here--a few hours away and 9-11 the day that rocked the world. I feel the tears as I think about all the heros we have seen since that day that is burned in my mind. The man that I talked with that day that had just got a divorce and was retired military. He joined homeland security with the airports. He is in command of the airports for homeland security. He tries to keep our skies safe. My world was rocked to where I know I will never feel the safety I did in Anerica ever again, There is a small part of my brain that keeps this on hold 24/7. God Bless America and Keep her Safe Tonight.
I was at work in the Electronics department of a K-Mart. My back wall was all t.v.'s. Pre- flat screens. 46" down to 15" portables. Had just started turning on the T.V.'s and I think it was Brian Williams (?) on the tubes as I turned them on. A plane had crashed into 1 World Trade. Whoa. Well planes can crash into buildings, right? We weren't open yet so I called some co-workers over to see this. We are watching and now we are seeing the second plane go into the top of the second building....we are watching this on 20 different T.V.s. And we are seeing it over and over again. The explosions, the people running...an absolute horrific reality that seemed so Not Real.
I think the American People have become complaisant and another attack can happen at anytime. We must never let our guard down and have another 9/11.
