More of that Compassionate Conservatism I've heard about....
The proper response would have been to say "That is offensive and hateful. Please do not joke about killing the president.", Not "I'd buy Obama Tags". That'd be too much to expect I suppose.

Idaho GOP hopeful jokes about 'Obama Tags'

BOISE, Idaho. - An Idaho Republican gubernatorial hopeful insists he was joking when he said he'd buy a license to hunt President Barack Obama.

Rammell, slated to run against incumbent C.L. "Butch" Otter in the May 2010 GOP primary, made the comment at a Republican rally Tuesday in Twin Falls where talk turned to the state's planned wolf hunt, for which hunters must purchase an $11.50 wolf tag.

When an audience member shouted about "Obama tags," Rammell responded, "The Obama tags? We'd buy some of those."

Rammell told the Times-News newspaper he disagrees with Obama's politics but was only joking.

Rammell says, "I was just being sarcastic. I would never support him being assassinated."

The former elk rancher and unsuccessful 2008 U.S. Senate candidate gained exposure in 2006 when the state ordered domestic elk be shot after they escaped from his ranch near Rexburg.

It is no wonder the GOP is completely out of power! They are totally out of the mainstream of the majority and cannot understand it. Well, hope they run Palin and Hannity for president and vice-president next time as some suggested.
I simply wonder how and why some people aquire the belief system that they have. How could anybody possibly be that dumb?
I hope his dick falls off and his hunting dog chokes in it and the elk on his farm trample his pea head. Nah just joking
Mark I am tired of these stories about these pathetic fucks. In a way we are just as bad as the media for discussing these stupid assholes. Sorry, I am just so incredibly pissed all you here about Obama is negative shit day in and out. What exactly is the point of posting this stuff aside from us patting ourselves on the back that we aren't racist idiots who screw our grandmothers?
The thing is Y'all many of these people do get elected, or are in office right now. It is swell that we got businesses to pull their ads from Beck, but I have yet to see any of these people have to pay, politically for their statements. I am tried of I am sorry, I didn't mean it, it was a joke. And guess what it you you guys that have to demand this guy be pulled from the running. By you guys, I mean the people who look like the guy and the people who vote for him, in lovely Idaho.
Jacquin, I think you and Grace should join "We the People" and read what is said there! Besides, I need some company over there and have been threatened with being banned and have used no profanity whatsoever. Thanks to No1toolmkr, he thought I should have the right to speak at least.
I wouldn't be caught dead trying to convince those (%&$$&^%*%#$ a **&( thing. They live in 1950 and they would prefer for me any anyone that looks like me to take the service entrance. This is what I truly think of that side. I can think of no other reason for what they say, than the fact that they what their "AMERICA BACK"
Well, trying to convince most of them that there is another way of seeing things may be a waste of time. But I enjoy getting my two cents worth in anyway.
I am with you Grace Linda. I have in the past actually tired to talk to those people. It is absolutely useless. They do not want to know will not lesson to facts. They want some earlier American that never really existed. What we must do is point out just how out of touch with reality they really are.
I just got off the phone from a telephone town hall with my congressman. He is a blue dog democrat but at least not a republican. People just kept asking questions about death panels, taking away there medicare and social security, and Obama being evil encarnate. Congressman Tanner repeated over and over that none those things were true and that there was not even a real bill yet and would not be for some time. He also addressed one of the anti Obama "ladies" very politely by saying he was a congressman and his job was not to legislate not follow the President off the cliff like the republicans did during the Bush administration. I still disagree with him on a lot of things but he is a reasonable man who wants major changes in health care.
I keep waiting for the Secret Service to fall on just ONE of these ass holes...LOUDLY...and PUBLICALLY...so that other bone heads get the point: It is against the law to threaten the sitting President.

(Sigh...and I'm from I-Da-Ho!)
Surprise Surprise Surprise (imagine hearing that in the voice of Gomer Pyle)...The Idaho GOP is condeming the remark.

HOWEVER, this asshole is refusing to apologize. He has since said "Anyone who understands the law knows I was just joking, because Idaho has no jurisdiction to issue hunting tags in Washington D.C.,". So, apparently, it is okay to joke about assassinating the president, because, theoretically, the 'tags' couldn't be issued. What a dick.
