Yes we do Jackie
everywhere in the US where concealed carry laws
are available crime is lower by a very significant margine
everywhere in the world where the citizenry was disarmed
the violent crime rate has gone up by no small margine
something about making the criminals guess.
Is the victim armed or not?
As I've pointed out.
There's a huge number of studies on this very
subject.
You will lose this argument.
There is no evidence to support you.
Agree Jacquin...that is the part of the problem Those who feel they have every right to have and use a gun as they please. I said this before, I think guns have a place and they had more of a place back in uncivilized time. There are so many guns that make it into the hands of criminals and those criminals do drive by shootings, robberies, murders, assaults, etc. I don't care about other countries stats other than many countries have a better policing without guns and most certainly a better prison system. Oh yea, they have less prisoners. I still say nothing good comes out of violence and owning a gun under the pretense of your protection but stating it in such a way that you need protection comes off very antagonistic and could be dangerous. Too many people lose their temper and will use the gun to resolve an issue.
You're so right Naidre. My girlfriend knows the family of a young child who was killed in a drive by shooting. And, as someone with a past temper issue I would hate to think what might have happened at some points in my life if I had and used a gun.
No argument ok...that is fine have you statistics but please check your spelling. Last I checked margine is spelled MARGIN. Thank you in advance Tool for checking on your next post.
Gun control laws don't get enacted when the violent crime rate is low. They get enacted in response to a disturbing social trend, usually accompanied by a rising violent crime rate - they're an attempt to stem a tide. You've got your causes and effects mixed up. It's important to keep in mind the differences between correlation and causation.

Regarding the "armed citizenry" and tyranny argument, that's downright silly. What chance do a bunch of gun-totin' bubbas have against an organized military? It's significant that the administration that took us closest to eliminating our civil liberties and to abusing executive privilege to an extent never seen before was one that purportedly supported so-called 2nd-ammendment rights.
I think the general populace carrying guns in National Parks is a travesty. I see no reason for this change.
