Hope you had a blast in Seattle.

I hadn't heard "Walk On By" by Thee Midniters. Wow. It feels like what you'd hear wafting out of a club in 1965 East London as you walk down the street in the fog. I know Thee Midniters were an East LA band, which makes it more amazing.

Loved hearing Ry Cooder. And, of course, .44 Blues with Taj Mahal. Too bad the Rising Sons only produced one album. Jesus, I can't believe how old (or dead) we're all getting. I knew a lot of musicians in the late 60s/early 70s. Some are faring better than others, of course. Most of us look like ghosts or blimps by now--and some of us have taken to "decorating" ourselves or otherwise trying to look young. Witness my friend Todd R. who looks like he paid a seagull to crap on his head--repeatedly.  No, T., it doesn't make you look edgy.

Oh, well, it's the music that matters.

If looks mattered more than music, Keith Richards woulda hung it up decades ago.

Shit, Shane Macgowan wouldn't've even gotten started.

Yeah, that Midniters is badass. You can tell, just from that song, that Los Lobos and Carlos Santana have more than a few Midniters albums  on their shelves --- In Carlos' case, more in how the brass and rhythm sections work together, than any tear-the-roof-off guitar shredding...

Personally, I love that Lea Delaria gospel stroll through "Modern Love". Hope Bowie heard that before he died....

Somehow I'd skipped right over "Modern Love." I'm glad you mentioned it. I've just listened twice. Lea's creamy smooth interpretation surprised me a little. It's beautiful.

Good point about Shane Macgowan. ツ Sorry to hear about his ill health. Odd, I ran across this painting of him just yesterday.

A colourful image of Shane
