pork and beans

I remember going to a reunion or to a friends house and their mom had a sweet pork and beans with bits of hamburger in it.I used to love pork and beans, but its been a long time since i ate any that tasted good. Any one familiar with anything similar to this.

Pork and Beans w/ Hamburger

1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 (16 ounce) can pork and beans, undrained
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper

1.In a skillet, cook beef, and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. In a large saucepan, combine the remaining ingredients. Stir in beef mixture. Cover and cook on medium heat until heated through.

My husband loved pork and beans, and I fixed them this way for him...sometimes I would put it a casserole after is was all mixed together and put it into the oven, sometimes just to heat thru, sometimes longer, so it was thicker.
