Have no idea what you are referring to. I looked at a few news reports and didn't see anything about this.

Is there a Marine held hostage in Mexico? Is this from Fox News?

Only program I watch on Fox isThe Five.

why the outrage? he took guns into mexico so it has to work its way thru their justice system. he does have representation and american officials are able to see and talk to him. in the us, it is not unusual for a case to take 15 months or so to make it to court. often many defendants stay in jail for those 15 months because they can't afford the bail set or can't afford the bondman's fee. save the outrage for a different issue.

(to make bail, you either put up the amount yourself or you use a bondsman who charges you a 10 per cent fee of the bail amount to guarantee your appearance. if the bailed party does not appear for the court date, the bondsman has to fork over the full amount so he or she is essentially 'loaning' you the bail amount)

Over 40 years ago (hard to believe) I was stationed at Camp Pendleton and worked in the Division Adjutant Section of the First Marine Division. It was not uncommon for cases to come through the office of Marines in jail, prison, or other legal trouble in Mexico. Mexico was close by and most of the cases were about drugs, fights, or sometimes more serious crimes. As I recall a legal representative from the Marine Corps was sent every month to do a report on their situation. Most of the jail and prison conditions were not pleasant so to speak judging from the accounts. Mexico is an independent country just like the United States or any of the other 200 countries in the world and one doesn't get a free ride just for being an American.
