Santa Cruz Island, one of the Galapagos Islands, located off the coast of California is becoming a Mecca for ornithologists all over the world.  A new species of bird has been discovered like none in existence:( Diamodea Welchica). the jellybird.

A swarm of about three dozen of these rare birds, the only ones known in the entire world, has already put them on the endangered species list.  Much more studies are now underway by scientists on these delicate aviators.

The jellybird is a free flying invertebrate. It has no bones. Instead of feathers it has modified tentacles enabling it to fly. It seems able to navigate in the often not so friendly skies using sunlight, moonlight, and starlight as well as the Earth's geomagnetic field on air currents and wind patterns.

Jellybirds are made up of 98%water. Their mouths consist of a membranous proboscis, similar to a mosquito, which empties into a gastrovacular cavity, or sort of a pseudo gullet.  They have no brains and no eyes but light sensitive ocelli enabling them to fly like a bat using a sophisticated GPS type of radar.  Adult jellybirds can grow up to two feet in height.

The discovery of the jellybird is important for one main reason: Food. Chickens are getting a bad wrap lately and restaurants are looking for another culinary type of sandwich.  With new techniques in cloning and population expansion, the jellybird may someday replace the bald eagle as our national emblem.

Our national emblem should be a fly..

You been stocking the candy aisle again?

Or are you, as Penny called Sheldon, just "one serious wackadoodle?"

Nice.

May replace the bald eagle as our national anthem, but I've heard they "taste like chicken"
