What is the right thing to do?

My ex is in the hospital in grave condition.  His dog bit him and it got infected (within 24 hours). He went to an urgent care clinic and they sent him to er right then.  They have removed a good protion of the skin on his arm, have a drain in it and on iv's for the infection. My girls are freaking out.  He is remarried so she is with him.  God forbid if something happens what should I do?  Go down there?  Stay here?  I'm at a loss on this one.

Thanks, I just tried to call one of the girls and she must be at the hospital. No answer..

when you say go down there what does that mean ?? is it a long trip ?? if it is a long trip what can you do that the hospital or your girls or his new wife can't ?? do you have a good relationship with your ex and his new wife ?? if not you could just be makin a stressful situation even more so .. maybe you'd better let your daughters handle it from their end and only go if they ask you to..

I have NO relationship with my ex or his wife.  I live in Washington state and they live in Houston, so yes a long trip indeed.  I came here really to hide (he put a gun to my head) and haven't been back. So, no I really don't want to go but don't want my kids to think I'm evil.  (They don't know  about what he did)

Dwalt, I think you answered your own question. Support your girls, but wait for an invitation.

i dunno but if someone put a gun to MY head, i doubt i'd be too concerned about visiting them cause they were in the hospital. let the ex nurse him or plant him. lend emotional support to the girls but why the hell would you even think of going?

I agree with Dell, call the girls and give them support ask them if they need you to be there for them.

If your daughters want you to go with them, Go. 

And tell them he can survive.  My daughter got Necrotizing fasciitis, the skin eating disease infection from a BUMP she incurred in a car accident. No skin was even broken.  She almost died, they almost had to remove her arm, but, thankfully, all she has now are deep craters where they cut her arm open and removed rapidly dying skin.  that happened in 2006.  Scariest time this family ever had.

I had no intention of going to the hospital.  None... Just wondered about the girls if he doesn't make it.

well thats a bridge you'll have to cross when it appears dwalt .. but as of now if i was you i'd stay where i was till he he didn't make it .. i'd ask if i was you how it was lookin so i could get all my ducks in a row if i did have to go .. someone to feed your horses and stuff like that .. cause you can't just go at the drop of a hat .. but i'd still stay put till i had to go .. as a rule i try to avoid people who like to stick guns to my head .. so far its gotten me this far so its a pretty good rule ..
