I know most people have given someone a personal loan to help then out . Some pay you back some  don't . Have you ever forgave a loan , knowing well you won't be paid back ?

Even if you did , do you ever really forget ?

There are two types of people in the world, those who save for a rainy day and the spenders who are always so surprised when a rainy day shows up and they don't have a dime.

I only give money as a gift, never expect to have it returned to me I only ask that they help someone else when they are able.

Expecting someone who is always broke to be in a position to return a loan is a silly idea. If they aren't the type to save they will never have the extra funds to pay back a loan, people don't change their ways of behaving. I also make sure the person I am helping out knows I only do it once, I'm not a sucker for poor me stories. I also won't help unless it is a really bad situation the person is in.

I've let several people live who deserved to be permanently removed from the earth.

But do they repay the favor, and gratefully dedicate their lives to me ? Noooooooooooooo..............

That too, they don't know how lucky they are to be alive do they Snagg?

Some of them literally do not...

Yes, I have and I never forgot. What I usually do is assume the friendship is more important than the loan and when I am sure the need is real and I am sure it will not come back, I offer to give them the money, or find a way for them to repay in other ways than cash. This doesn't happen often but it does happen.

well just my experience but i'll never loan someone money if they tell me they'll pay me back as soon as they can .. thats way too open ended .. a bank won't do it and neither should anyone else .. if i am gonna loan someone money i'll always ask when will you repay this ?? if they say they don't know i say sorry i don't know when i can lend it to you .. if they ask why i'll tell em cause you don't know when you'll pay it back .. if they say they'll pay me back on the 1st of the month and they don't then they know they owe me the money .. and i have the right to ask them for it everytime i see them after the 1st . . if they say they'l pay when they can that means anytime between now and the day they die and if i ask i know the response will be well i told you i'd pay you when i could ..and that response will always be the same .. i can't pay you yet .. meanwhile they just got new tires on their car and i'm still ridin around on a set of tires so bald you could call em kojacks .. they just got a new 55 inch flat screen and i'm still watchin an old big 35 inch square screen that the video in is broken on it.. but if i say hey remember me ?? the response will always be i said i'll pay you soon as i can and i can't yet.. so lendin money is a trickey business .. but as long as i know they told me they would pay me on the 1st and it goes past that date and they keep on givin me excuses i don't have to feel bad if i punch em in the nose to remind em its past the 1st .. and that i'll be back in a week .. don't disappoint me again .. it hardly ever comes to that tho cause i don't loan money out indiscriminately .. usually if i do its to someone who i know i can trust .. cause an unpaid loan can end a friendship .. cause if the money is more important to them than your friendship then they probably weren't that good of a friend to start with anyway .. anybody can get in a jam from time to time but a standup guy will always make ammends if he's late .. another thing i might do if i have a feelin they won't pay it back on time is tell em this is interest free till you're late payin it back .. then you owe me 10% after the date due .. 30 days late and its 15% .. 60 days and its 20% ..and i'll write it out and make em sign it so they know i'm not kiddin .. nobody should borrow money from a friend if they have no idea if and when they'll pay it back ..

Whenever someone has asked me for a loan, if I can afford it, I just say take it as a gift--repay me if you can, otherwise, forget about it.  Usually, it's family or people very very close to me, and if they are asking, they really need it. And I wouldn't want to feel resentful because they did not pay me back--so gift it is what I do.

I don't think I would ever loan money ( without paper work being signed) if (1) I could not afford it, (2)  I really thought I would get it back just by word of mouth.

If someone needed a large amount, then I would require we do it legally.

well i was talkin about a large sum of money too cresty . i wouldn't go all apeshit over 50 bucks .. but if it was someone i knew and cared about and they really needed it even if i didn't have it i'd try to find a way to get it .. even if i had to get a loan myself .. but .. i think i'd get real perturbed if i thought someone was runnin a game on me ..

Frenchy, I would be glad to repay you next Thursday for a loan today of $49.00. If however the unforeseen does attach itself, I will pay you as soon as I can. In the meantime I am happy you will not go apeshit over less than 50 bucks. You can reach me today on my cellphone...I will be on the river on the seadoo. (oh, need the money for lunch at the crab shack!) Thanks, buddy.

Enjoy, Dell.

you funny dell .. you funny ..

When I worked, sometimes I'd find myself short a quarter or whatever to get a Coke from the vending machines.

I'd bum the quarter off a friend, and loudly announce to the whole room. "Thanks for the loan. I'll pay you back when I'm damn good and ready."
