Walk In My Shoes...
We have now had the talk, the talk that was criticized for not coming and now, that it has come, some see as politically self-serving and slanted by the very nature of the subject.
On a get-away Friday afternoon, in a steamy, unpleasant Washington, President Obama made a surprise statement about his thoughts on the race, race relationships and the status of a culture dealing with black men, in particular, young, black men, as backstopped by the events of the Zimmerman case in Florida.
This is all a part of the serious discussion we are to have on race in America.
We have been here before, many times in fact. And the discussion has almost always ended in the same place, that yes, there is race in America. And therefore how to frame a discussion that has been so talked about, where that talk has been as to what to discuss, how to discuss and as to what objective.
In the end it has almost always ended as to what does it mean to the individual, what does it mean to me. And of course, none of us are racist or racist as described as the most virulent type, how ever that is described and held to be. And yet, it does exist, color in a society and community, the form of alienation and difference based on skin color; the idea that there are others that are different, have different beliefs, have and express other values and culture, or, another words, people not like us.
People who do not walk in our shoes...no matter the color...black, brown or white.

The writing was on the wall. If President Obama didn't say anything, he was going to be criticized by the nuts on the rights. And now that he has said something, he's being criticized by the nuts on the right. They are and will criticize this president no matter what he does....even if it's in the best interest of the country.

I don't think he was parroting Webster's definition of racism. He was more speaking about a belief by many that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that belief that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of the white race and the right.
- Hitler's declaration of his belief in a “master race” was an indication of the inherent racism of the Nazi movement.
- Racism was the basis of apartheid
- America's GOP practices racial prejudice or discrimination against blacks, as well as Hispanics, Gays, and Women. We only have to check Republican Laws and Voting to know these Republicans are the ones that are not the civilized members of society

Conservatives didn't even wait for President Obama to finish his deeply personal remarks on Trayvon Martin’s killing and the role of race in America to go ballistic, accusing the president of being a “Racist in Chief” who is “trying to tear our country apart.”
On Twitter, Fox News, and elsewhere, many conservatives took a predictably depressing response, arguing that Obama is the true racist for having the courage to speak about race in our country.
